Heat-wise this rope is perfectly fine and will withstand as much temperature as your fire can throw at it. The deciding factor is the diameter of the rope. I took part of my old door rope off and measured it and the closest measurement was 10mm dia. I then measured the length of the existing rope on the door and was happy to buy the 2m size which left a bit spare. My door GLASS rope, however, was a little smaller in dia., so I did the same for that. One small point - the new rope will make the door a little tighter when closing but will squash in just fine after a few days or so. Follow the instructions on the glue bottle and after applying wait a couple of minutes before pushing in the rope. This all works best if you can take the door(s) off and lay them flat. Yes, it came with a small length of tape for the cut ends...don't know how high its temp resistance is, but it worked very well and after several months, no visible fraying.
