Better for the price
I’m really happy with this sketchbook! I used to buy a different brand, but after they raised their prices, I went looking for an alternative—and I’m so glad I found this one. It has the same number of pages, but for a much better price, and the quality is just as good. The paper feels great, and it works perfectly for journaling. I would buy it again in the future.

Great quality sketchbook
One of the default sketchbooks I buy when I need a new one. Good quality binding and paper. A decent size, too.

Good sketchbook.
The binding is sturdy. The paper is heavy enough for fountain pen ink. There’s a bit of tooth for pencils, too. It’s a great all round sketchbook.

Great sketchbook!
I really like the larger sized book. The cover is nice and sturdy, should last a long time. The paper is very nice but bright, I would prefer a more subdued paper. But I knew it was this way, and if I wanted toned paper I would have purchased that instead. It's lite weight paper suitable only for dry medium. What got me is the description says 184 pages, but the book says 90 pages. So they are counting front and back of pages plus the front cover pages! I thought I was getting 184 total! One good thing is that the sticker comes off the cover easily.

Surprised by the quality from Canson
This sketchbook far exceeded my expectations. I had not considered Canson products for some time after trying out their watercolor paper and finding it to be very low quality. I received one of these as a gift a couple of years ago and now I've filled 3 cover-to-cover. I guess the QC on different lines makes a big difference. Before I had been using ring-bound sketchbooks for their flexibility and ease of removing pages. This hardbound book doesn't have these perks, but it makes up for it in one big way: graphite transfer. More specifically the lack thereof. Once you shut a ring-bound sketchbook and hoof it around in a bag or even in your hand, the shifting of the loosely bound paper will rub your pencil marks onto the adjoining page. This can really ruin drawings over time. With this book, it's solid construction means you don't have that issue. The main thing I look for in a sketchbook is good erasability and a decent weight paper for inking or light washes. This sketch paper is excellent for the first; you can erase a dozen times with a good polymer eraser and unless you've ran a groove in the paper it'll come clean everytime with little wear. The paper is fine for most inking, as long as you're not flooding half the page at once, and it won't bleed through (I use sumi ink and W&N drawing ink) in most cases. The paper will buckle fast under a proper wash, but then again it really isn't made for washes in the first place.Overall, this sketchbook has solid construction and very user-friendly paper. It's not ideal if you need something to fold over or remove sheets quickly and easily, but for what it is--a hardbound sketchbook--it's really a great pick.

favorite since grammar school
this is my favorite for sketches, i like extremely simple sketchbooks b/c what’s important is what’s inside and they haven’t changed their design yet. since i like the consistency it’s a winner. the paper is smooth but not that thick kinda like a high quality printer paper, thin but not too thin, smooth and most importantly not see through. (my all time favorite sketchbook is the canson XL mix media paper pad, much less pages but far better paper)
