I purchased this beautiful green and cream/gold dress for my 12 year old daughter to wear at my renaissance themed wedding. The color is stunning and the pictures don't do it justice. I got her a small but I am going to reorder her this in a medium as the small is a bit tight and makes her look slightly pregnant when she's not. She currently weights 113 lbs and is 5'1" tall. The dress has a great flow. No need for a petticoat or a slip. It does seem to cling to her body but again I believe I should have went up a size. I didn't notice any unusual smells. The only thing I didn't like about the dress was the laces which were more like extremely long and very thin shoe laces. The cream colored one was on the back of the dress which stood out like a sore thumb. The black one was on the front of the dress which didn't look as awful. I plan of purchasing a thin ribbon to relace the new dress with as I feel that would look better. Other than that my only other complaint with be the placement of the tag. It is sewn upwards in between the seem at the back of the neckline and forces it to stick straight up. There's no real way of hiding it and would be difficult to remove if you're not a seemtress which I am not. Sure you can just cut it out but it's going to be noticeable. These complaints are minor inconveniences which is why I'm still giving the dress a 5 star rating.

I followed advice from other reviews and ordered 2/3 sizes larger than I normally would have. I am 5'9", 195 lbs, and I normally wear a Large, sometimes XL (size 12 pants, size 36DDD bra). I ordered the XXX-Large, going up an extra size for length. I definitely could have ordered the XX-Large, probably the XL and it would have easily fit, but I'm glad I have the extra length. I would definitely go at least one size up, and at least 2 sizes up if you are taller.I also figured it was ok to err on the larger side since there is lacing on the front and back, so I could make it tighter if need be. Well, the lacing is in such a weird position it won't really work. Also, instead of the 6 loops on each side, as pictured, there are 2 loops on each side. The bottom of the front laces goes to mid-boob. The lacing in back is right around my shoulder blades. I tried to pull the dress down so these would be closer to where they should be (my waist???) but it wouldn't stay. I then tried to make it look not totally weird, but it just does. I've decided to remove the loops for the lacing and move them to where they should be. This will be easy for me, but I know not everyone will have that options - so larger sizes beware.Additionally, I've decided to find something with which to replace the lacing itself. It comes with a black cord, similar to the shoelace on a men's dress shoe. It's fine, and the visual effect is there, but I just think for a couple of dollars it can look a whole lot better. I'll try to remember to add pictures once I've made the changes.Length-wise, it hits right at the top of my foot - honestly, it couldn't be more perfect. It's just long enough without dragging on the ground - which normally wouldn't bother me, but I'm wearing it to a Renaissance Festival and don't want to be tripping over it or intentionally getting it all muddy.Overall, the quality is what I expected for what I paid. The material is nice and thick which will be nice since we are going to a Ren Fest in the fall and it might be pretty chilly.

Better than I imagined. So excited to wear this to a renaissance festival at the end of March! It is a little snug around the bust area. I got a 3XL normally I’m a 2 XL so you may want to order a size or 2 up

I purchased this costume for a renaissance fair and immediately returned. The material was much thicker than it appeared in the image, the fit was much larger than expected and the color was not a match to what is shown. The sleeves were terribly uncomfortable and the chest area is not flattering whatsoever. I will say it seemed to be made to last and decent quality which is the reason for 3 stars. Maybe just not the dress for me.

Ordered for my daughter for Halloween. She is 5'6/130lbs and usually would wear a medium. I ordered a large just in case and it works perfectly since it ties in front and back and can be adjusted to the size she needs. Although the picture shows it comes with a pretty ribbon for the tie it's really just a plain piece of string. It doesn't look bad but we'll switch it out for something else. I was worried about it being long enough but it touches the floor. She says it's very comfortable.

Love this dress! Fits perfectly, true to size, color is marvelously rich! It’s lightweight, well made, and twirls nicely for dancing. The ties in the back help make a custom look at the bust and waist. Can’t wait for Halloween! Just lovely.

I got this for the local Renaissance Festival a few years ago to dress up as one of my book characters. I loved how pretty the dress was and it was comfortable to wear. But on a petite girl like me with a little bit more fluff around the midsection, it wasn’t flattering. The velvet did nothing to hide this, only making it more obvious. And the ties, whether loose or tight, added onto the problem.If you’re someone with barely any belly fat and over 5’ 4” this will be perfectly serviceable. Just not for me
