Achla DesignsRaleigh Tavern Colonial Style Lantern for Candle or LED

We recently visited Colonial Williamsburg, and my husband's favorite place was the Raleigh Tavern. When I saw this lantern, it was the perfect birthday present for him. It looks very much like the lanterns we saw all over Williamsburg, and used at the Raleigh Tavern. It's very sturdy, and I added a battery-powered candle for use indoors. We are very happy with it!

This is pretty nice. It serves our 1775 re-enactor camp. A crimped tin candle dish fits snug inside making cleanup and recharge easy. The door needed slight adjustment to close even top to bottom. I easily fixed it by removing the glass by its top tabs before adjusting the fit. That's okay for my 5-star knowing the correct virtues it has including reasonably priced, and easily replaceable. The door and its wire latch are nice. Our last had only sliding glass panels that made refreshing candles a 4-finger trick . In our search, we found many of these lanterns do not have the venting for a real flame as this does. Most we found were wooden decorations for electric pillar.

I really like this lantern. My only gripe is that the product description/photo doesn't state or show that there is an un-removable ring inside (meant to hold the pillar candle up). This prevents you from putting a candle inside that already comes in its own glass container (like a Yankee candle or whatnot). My solution to this problem was to fill the bottom with rice, up to and slightly over the height of the un-removable ring, so that I had a flat surface to put the glass container candle on. Also be mindful that you won't be able to fit a large Yankee candle (or others similar to that size) through the door to get it inside. I would like the product description to list the size of the actual door opening, not just to overall dimensions of the lantern. But generally, it's really nice and I am glad I bought it. Just needs more details for people to know before they purchase.

Beautiful lamp! I love it! The only problem is that it is not completely level on the platform, so it wobbles a little. Nothing dangerous--just a little pet peeve. I will figure out a way to level it out.

This lantern provides the "new look" we wanted to decorate the post in front of our house. It was most reasonably priced,is as advertised, was properly packaged and received in a timely manner.

Disappointed in this lantern. Bought it for a gift but it is not gift worthy. There were pieces of broken glass inside it, although the glass panes were not broken. There is a scratch/dent on the front part that was touched up with a color that does not match. I’ll keep it for myself but it is not worth the cost

I saw a similar lantern in Williamsburg, VA and loved it. When I found it here, I snagged it at a great price! I use it all year with a battery operated candle. I'm glad I bought it!

Much sturdier construction than I'm used to with these lanterns. I like this lantern a lot.
