Great value
I bought this Machete for gardening on a one acre piece of land pretty wild, to cut bushes and saplings. I ordered two by mistake and was able to sort it out quickly with the seller. He was responsive. The Machete is of good quality, it came sharpened and with a nice cover. After one hour of use (cutting bushes and young trees) or so it starts to become dull. I do not use it more than one hour or so at the time, so I just sharpen it every time. It is made of thicker steel than a knife so you can either use a grinder or a sharpening stone. I got good results either way.I only use it with one hand and would not use two hands, the cord part of the handle rather than a second handle is better used as a safety not to get cut in case your hand sleeps the handle. The cord is basically in the area where other machetes are left sharpened also for safety in case the Machete sleeps your hand. The handle is good but not super ergonomic. I can see how if you use for longer periods you may way to put tape as other reviewers have done., but for 1 hour use at the time is totally fine and it did not hurt my hands. I also use the serrated edge in the back on occasions.

First hour worth total price
For the price doesn't cover how happy I was with this tool especially for basic and intermediate machete jobs it is a beast and design is perfectly engineered to make it comfy and light feeling but also heavy enough to handle any limb or tree smaller than a softball in diameter and more. Anyone who uses any machete knows that ur hands take a toll due to friction and grip but handle is rather comfortable and appropriate for heavy duty use with precise balance and only warning I would give is that the smaller the hand the more trouble u will have with handle size but anyone over teenage male will be non applicable to handle issues. Now I'm about to ride an alligator on bath salts into the domicile of my enemies with the chupacabra like fierceness of a pterodactyl with a Vicodin problem and a new girlfriend that only likes dootlong or larger variety hotdogs and not ballparks. Awesome workhorse for the price.
OK, first let's address all the "waah waah, it's way too heavy to swing" reviews. Well no crap. It's called "The Brute". What were you expecting? Yeah, it's a monster. Nice and thick, has a good solid feel with every strike. It comes quite sharp straight from the manufacturer, but as with all my work machetes the first thing I did was put a razor edge on it with my upright belt sander. I haven't had to re-edge it yet in over 6 months. Still razor sharp. The sawback isn't really functional but could easily be made functional if you wanted to spend the time to stagger edge the teeth. The handle is pretty clunky straight out of the box, but I actually appreciate that since it allows for me to notch and sand the wood for a custom fit in my hand. I've taken down trees 6" in diameter with ease using this monster, and it has become my favorite of all my machetes. If you are looking for a machete to knock down tall grass, this probably isn't your best choice. Instead, look into the Ontario 18", or maybe even the SOG. But if you're looking for a no-joke chopper, you really can't go wrong with this one. It's worth every penny and then some of the price. It's a hardcore tool, not a showpiece, and should I ever manage to find a way to break it (doubtful) you can be sure I'm going to replace it with the same.

Great machete
This is easily the best machete I've used, but that does mean I'm comparing it to a military surplus I got secondhand, a very cheap blade from a big box hardware store, and a Gerber I recieved as a gift. The blade arrived sharp enough to use and had held its edge admirably. I've used it to clear a fiar amout of tall grass, woody scrub like goldenrod, and softwood saplings up to about an inch and a half thick. This is a very heavy, long blade, and the weight is set fairly forward on the blade which helps it cut tougher scrub, almost like a light hatchet. It's also fairly thick, which helps keep it from bending on strikes and helps it hold its edge. It does still have the flex a machete blade needs. The saw blade on the back isn't great, It's just teeth cut out of the metal and not sharpened at all. I could probably make it work by taking a file to it but I just use a bow saw. The cord hook is also quite dull. It has enough of an edge to cut vines, but it just shreds cordage instead of cutting it cleanly. The handle is okay. I find it fairly comfortable, but I have large hands and usually wear gloves. The handle material is fairly slick and the handles don't match the shape of the tang so there's little gaps in the middle which can be uncomfortable. Some grip tape on the handle fixed both of these problems. The second handle is just a blank stretch of blade wrapped in cord which is okay for now, but I might cover it with grip tape as well soon. All in all it's a very good, if somewhat cumbersome, tool, especially for the price. It's not perfect, but the few complaints I have are about stuff that's not central to it's function so no points off there.
