Kids use Gulf Wax to make inexpensive gifts!!!!
I read many of the reviews and Gulfwax Paraffin Wax has many uses, some I've not thought of. I guess I will throw my use into the ring.I use this for decorative bars of soap that the kids make to give as small gifts. You take a bar of soap (does anyone really use bar soap anymore or it is all for decoration?) Have the kids find a picture they like carefully cut it out. In a shallow skillet melt some paraffin wax. (be careful and supervise the kids - it is hot) Lightly dip the bar of soap (a flat bar works best but it will work with any) Dip the bar into the wax slightly, position the picture on the soap quickly so it is still movable being sure the edges are pushed into the melted wax. Set aside for only a minute or two until the lightly dipped bar of soap is cooled and the picture is set. Then dip again this time going up on the sides of the soap about 1/4 of an inch (this step can be repeated if needed). Quickly turn over an set to harden. When you wash your hands the wax will keep the picture looking fresh and not wash off. Kids have fun and this makes an inexpensive gift for them to give.I also use the Gulfwax to seal my jams, preserves and jelly. On the tracks of drawers so they open and close easier. I rub it over my clean shower track and it keeps my track cleaner for a longer time. If you have a cut on your hand and have to clean onions or jalapeno peppers just melt a little wax and put it on your open sore while handling things that sting. It will peal right off. Working quickly you can whip melted wax with ice water and spread on pine cones or on a candle to make it look like snow for the holidays. The list goes on.As always prompt shipping with amazon.com.

Excellent dry lube for bicycle chains
Good 'ole paraffin! With a shelf-life measured in decades, I purchased this to provide a dry lube for my bicycle chain, wanting to eliminate the "snake bite" marks on my ankle, which appears when my chain with the traditional solvent-based lubricants comes in contact with my leg. An emptied 28 ounce can of whole tomato product is the perfect size for holding flat a curled up chain. Then, placing a single bar of wax on top of the chain, and placing the can with chain into a retired rice-cooking pot full of water, the gradually melting wax along with the constant agitation from the boiling water insured that all surfaces of the chain were being coated. I suspect I can reheat the same wax and use it multiple times, which extends the product life and makes it significantly more cost effective than buying a tub of wax-based, bicycle-specific, lubricant. My only recommendation is to start with a perfectly clean chain void of any past lubricants - lacquer thinner works well in that it is relatively inexpensive by the gallon, dries quickly and leaves no noticeable residue. After the wax dip, take the pots outside, snag the chain with a wire coat hanger, and while holding it over a trash bin, shake off the the excess wax. It will fly off the chain like water. Then, after the wax hardens, break the chain by working each link back and forth a couple of times, while brushing off the excess wax particles with an old tooth brush. If your hands are clean after this process, it means that you had adequately cleaned your chain prior to the wax dip.Ride.

FROM CANDY TO SLEDDING A MUST HAVE
This is a great wax. I add a little bit to the Christmas candy I make. It makes it so the chocolate and while chocolate are not all messy. Irs coats the outside. But after years of working with it I’ve figured out exactly how to do it.This is a great value and I’m so glad I could find it. It lasts for many years and doesn’t expire or go bad.I use this for canning too. It’s perfect. The fun way to use this is to use a small piece to wax all the bottoms of your sleds/snowboards and you will go even faster down that hill. And the wax stays on the sled a long time. One waxing lasts all winterGreat product with so many usesA must have staple in your cupboard.

A little on the high priced side
I used this wax for the first time this week. I am pleased with the results. My only complaint is that it is a little pricey. If I were looking for a generic doesn't matter what kind of wax, I'd instead use something like I bought last summer at Michael's (arts and crafts store). I think I bought candle wax at Michael's 5 lbs. for $19.95 + tax. This was $27.00 for 4 lbs. Don't get me wrong, this product did everything I wanted it to do (fire starter candles)and it seems to be an excellent product. Perhaps if I were waxing a surfboard it would matter - fire starting candles, not so much.
