Worth their weight in gold
Originally has my traction boards mounted inside a roof top safari basket, but then decided to go with a cargo box instead. This left me with the task of figuring out how to mount and secure my traction boards to my roof. These mounts can be mounted vertical or horizontal so you can secure them on the side of your setup or on your crossbars like I’ve done. The mounts utilize the t-slots on your crossbars which gives them a sturdy and secure fit. I’ve driven over 1k miles since originally installing these on my roof rack and have had no problems with them since. Keeps the traction boards secure without the worry of losing your equipment while driving. Definitely worth their weight in gold.

Bought this after I almost lost my boards on the highway
Very secure but easy to remove the boards when needed

5-Star Customer Service
UPDATE: I was contacted by the seller and to my surprise they went above and beyond to address the issue I experienced. You just don't see that anymore and for that reason I have updated my overall rating. Customer Service rating 5-Stars!Original Review: My biggest criticism is that this mount was only designed with Maxtrax in mind. It should be clearly stated these are not “universal”. I have a different brand and managed to make it work but it did require modifications on my traction pads.

This is terrible.
It wont allow for the Max Trax pin set so there is no good way to lock up. The straps do not hold the pieces in place. Always having to put the trax back on the mount spot and tighten the straps over and over.

Works well
They worked well and bolted right on to my yakima rack system. They would have been 5 starts but my matts didn't lock into them but still secured nicely. The matts I own were not on the list of matts it fit but with the pull straps it held the matts just the same with no loosing for over 10k miles and counting.

Stout, but sloppy, cumbersome, and definitely not “universal”. Rhino solution much better
Yakima stuff is generally well built, but these things are barely better than just bungeeing your traction boards to the rack on your car/truck, or using a couple U-bolts to secure them. First, they are molded of slippery textured plastic, so any board that doesn’t lock in place will be prone to slide back and forth. The mounts are designed to fit/match ONLY Maxtrax (or a perfect pattern copy). The idea is to have the little “+ shaped” extrusions on the boards insert into the matching “+ shaped” holes on the mounts. Once the boards are mated to the mounts they get strapped in place with the included Yakima straps (basically the same 1940s strap and buckle type you see on other yakima products).I have several sets of traction boards including MaxTrax. Only the Maxtrax fit properly, but even they were a hassle to mount securely enough to stay locked in their little “+” patterns. Even then, the snug fit is only temporary, as the straps absorb water and loosen over the course of a trip. As soon as the plus-shaped teeth slip out of their matching holes, which is difficult to prevent, the boards will slide back and forth. Of course, they will stay attached to the vehicle as long as the straps hold, but it’s not a well designed mount.I have a RhinoRack Pioneer rack on my old ther vehicle (a jeep). The Rhino mounts are very easy to engage, will hold two sets of Maxtrax boards securely and quietly, and no goofy straps are required. They are also easy to lock with a padlock. I plan to see how I can mount the Rhino mounts to my Yakima truck rack and sell the yakima board mounts at a garage sale.
