I have needed one of these for years and it works exactly like it should. I'm thrilled to have it. It is for notching the patterns that you make not the fabric.

Once I got it out of the package I tested it just to see how it felt, no material in the jaws. Closed really tough and once I let go it just fell apart in my hand. Looks like the holes in the small plate were threaded at one point and just completely sheared off the threads cause the cutting jaws had some burrs and got stuck. Worst quality tool I've ever purchased

The product was not made of stainless steel as described, it was corroding and very hard to punch.

I purchased this item to make notches in cardboard looms for my students. Very sturdy and easy to use, and held up extremely well to the massive number of notches I had to make in the matting I used for the looms. I was half expecting it to break, but my hand gave out before the tool did! Saved me a ton of time and money and the sturdy quality of the design allows me to use it again in the future to continue to save on ordering classroom art supplies.

Works fine on paper which is what I bought it for but definitely doubt it working on fabric. It also came already tarnished/rusted and is more like a coated steel than stainless. The spring in the handle is also quite tough so it will likely cause tired hands faster

The notcher that worked, works very well and is very handy. The second one, however, stuck so bad whenever it was closed (with or without any material in the jaw) that the spring wouldn't release the notcher for its next use. Tried repeatedly working it through its action range, even oiled it but no good. Got refund for 1 of the 2 notchers we bought on the same order.
