So easy to use you want to clean everything
I did some serious research before buying this steamer since I had never used one of these before. I decided that since water is under pressure I would splurge for a steamer that was not trying to cut corners. The first thing I noticed was a sturdy brass thread for the top. This is a real machine, with excellent attachments: some made of nylon brushes, some with metal brushes. It has a measuring cup that acts as a funnel. It uses 200 ml distilled water which prevents mineral clogs. There is no on/off switch. It is on when it is plugged in. It is ready when the red light turns green. It takes about 4 mins. to heat, steams for about 20 mins depending on whether you use continuous or intermittent steam. Then you must unplug it and wait 15 mins to refill, which leaves time to rest. Which you need to do because believe me, this is so easy to use and so much fun that you want to clean everything. So far I have cleaned the faucets, the windows, the window latches, the window sills, the window screens without removing them, the cabinets, the knobs on the cabinets, the oven grill, the stove top, the back of the toilet seat where it connects and is hard to reach, the edge around the sink, the shower, the grout on the floor, the curtains, the deck rail, some plastic toys, the heater registries (on which 20 year old putty was stuck), the slats on some wooden curtains. It uses the pressure, heat and moisture of steam to loosen dust, dirt and grease so that it can be easily wiped away. I absolutely recommend this product.July 31, 2014Just cleaned my kitchen. Able to clean corners and cabinet handles that I used to have to use a toothbrush to clean. Much faster. The steamer kept producing steam for about 1 hr and 15 mins. using it on and off.

Does the job for really stubborn grout, but make sure you wear earplugs!
So I bought this thing to help with some stubborn grout that we have in our bathrooms. I liked the idea of using steam rather than harsh chemicals to help clean and with the added benefit of minimal scrubbing. I'm 30W pregnant and the idea of scrubbing is unappealing to say in the least. So I bought this in hopes that it would save me a lot of energy when I clean the bathroom. The fact that it could be used for things like killing bed bugs made this one stand out as opposed the more popular brand of steamers from the Big Brands. My husband tried it and it works well... it really helps with stubborn grout stains. We think it might take a couple of passes to really get the job done. We needed to fill up the tank about 4 times to get the shower stall done - which is kind of a lot since they tell you to wait 15 minutes between each fill. But then again, his bathroom needed a serious once over, so I imagine that with regular maintenance, we might cut that down to 2 fills. And since this is the only hand held steam cleaner we've owned, I don't know if that's typical. With all that being said, I really only have one gripe. This thing is LOUD. We have floor steam cleaners that aren't nearly as loud, but then again they aren't nearly as powerful. My husband cleaned his stall shower and after a few minutes his ears started to ring. The sound is really really intense and eventually he resorted to using ear plugs when he was cleaning. Granted, his bathroom stall is not very big, so the sound will reverb, but still. Be forewarned that it is loud! Given the intensity of the noise, I can't use it since I'm pregnant (really loud noises will impact the baby in utero) so I won't be able to use this until after the baby is born. Which is sad b/c I'm excited to use it!

Tiny, useful, worth it
I initially got this to murder remaining bedbugs in my home, but I've been using it on practically everything since. It's handheld, so it can get into a lot of places, and it has a number of attachments to agitate ick on different surfaces. So far, I've used it on stone, grout, carpet, and furniture (originally to kill the bedbugs that might be in the furniture, but now I use it to clean the furniture). I've used it on a leather chair, carpet, a microfiber couch, and a bed mattress, fabric-wise, and it resulted in a clean smell (or a lack of smell, rather) and did not damage any of the materials. It's potentially small enough to use on clothing as well, but I haven't tried it yet.It is fully corded, so if you're trying to reach a place that you can't reach with a cord, you can try heating it up then unplugging it to move it to where you need it. This is tedious, though, and the heat diminishes quickly. I, personally, was using it on some carpet where a cat had peed (ew!) in an effort to steam it out of the padding underneath, and that wasn't reachable by the cord. It was a lot of back and forth. It's worth using an extension cord, if you have one, in that case. When closing the top, it took me a second to realize that it closes and locks if you twist it close and then push down on the top and turn it till it sticks (kind of like a pill bottle). It will work just fine without that "lock," but it's probably safer if you know to do it beforehand. The water supply lasts longer than I thought it would. The reservoir is small because it's a handheld steamer, but really, I didn't expect any different. At first, I was a total chicken and didn't fill it up all the way, but once I filled it up all the way, I was able to steam pretty much half of my (average-size) bedroom carpet (and the sides of the bed and the top of a coffee table) with one fill. The one I got looked like it was already used, and I bought a new one as far as I remembered so I wasn't thrilled about that, but I tried it to make sure it worked and ended up keeping it (because it did work). It's completely worth it. If you're on the fence about this one and one of the bigger sizes, don't worry about this one's efficacy because it works really well, but do think about the versatility of this vs. some of the larger ones. This one will let you get into places a larger one won't (and it's cheaper), but it won't cover large swaths of area at once, so be prepared to put in some "elbow grease."
