A REVIEW FROM 2024!!! IT’S GREAT FETA CHEESE!
I was really reticent to buy this because of all the ancient reviews, the perishable nature of this cheese and the cost but after paying a fortune for a tiny tub of Feta at the grocery store for the millionth time, I decided to try this. I was shocked when it arrived very promptly, very well-wrapped, and without any leaks! There were 4 cold packs which were largely melted, but everything was still cool and no sign of puffiness or rot. I did write Parthenon and asked them about the coolness and they wrote back so quickly it startled me and reassured me it was fine. Opened, the plastic tub was stacked with blocks of feta stacked in brine like what would be about 6 large boxes that come from the grocery store and to my delight, it was not sharp or overly salty! I use this in salads almost daily and it has been so, so tasty and convenient. I haven’t calculated it, but the per pound price of this, even accounting for shipping, this costs much less than Athena and Krinos. I’m so glad I tried this - so worth it!February, 2024 UPDATE:Parthenon goes above and beyond to make sure the customer is happy. After 3 pristine deliveries, I had a problem with the USPS literally running over the well-packed box of feta and they actually delivered a brine-y mess of melted cardboard, packing peanuts and bits of cheese in a long mail container. My postal worker told me to refuse its delivery and we did; clearly, there was nothing to be salvaged. I knew the feta wasn’t refundable so I chalked it up to experience, after all, I had had 3 flawless deliveries before this one. Later, I thought about the “refuse delivery” thing and wrote to Parthenon and told them about the squashed box and my regret at the waste as why I refused the delivery not expecting ANYTHING! They asked me to confirm my address, which I did. 6 days later a new box, in perfect condition, this time shipped via UPS, arrived with my beloved feta intact. Parthenon didn’t have to do this. Sadly, it’s so rare to find a vendor who actually cares about customer service. Use this vendor! They clearly stand behind their products! Thanks, Parthenon!

Forget about cheddar et al
Delicious enough to forget about cheddar and even brie. Not too salty, just right. Not having eaten this cheese in Greece I cannot tell whether it tastes like authentic greek feta, but it does not claim to be that, it is domestic. It takes major tools to pry open the hermetically sealed lid of the solid tub it is shipped in -with brine. Worth the labor, and the top closes the container tightly for storage.4 lbs for 15 dollars is a fantastic price, Shipping is well worth it,too, especially when combining with one or two other products from this shipper. And - shipping was fast, purchased on 12-2 - arrived on 12-5 with standard shipping. Not all feta is the same, some are overly salted, some make your belly growl for hours, This feta cheese however will remain on my menu!

Extremely sour.
They used tape to try to stop leak. It's not properly closed so when they shipped it out to me package, everything was smelly and wet from the sour water. The water was so sour, smells like acid and I really had some stomach issues. It's not really white, even if you rinse it out with the a lot water it's still sour.

Very Tasty
It is very well packaged and has an excellent flavor, it has the weight that it says it has in the image, I can really say with certainty and recommend this product for its excellence.

Great product. Poor shipping.
The feta cheese gets five stars for quality, taste and value. I was very skeptical about ordering feta online, but this cheese is excellent. Please don't hesitate to try it based on my review. It's worth your money.Parthenon Foods gets 0 stars for poor shipping. I received a giant wet box, because the lid of the container (bucket) popped open during shipping and brine went everywhere. The end result is that I now have 4 lbs of feta that will expire in a couple of weeks, because there is no brine left to preserve it.After examining the container, it looks like the lid on these buckets can easily pop slightly open and leak brine everywhere if it bounces around enough during shipping. I can't believe Parthenon Foods thinks this is an acceptable way to ship this product. It's not that hard to put some tape on the cover to hold it in place. Come on guys, you have a great product here! A little extra effort goes a long way.

Repeat Customer
Several years after moving away from my Greek parents' house, my wife and I had been in the habit of spending $6 or $7 a week to get 6 oz of Athenos feta that was often dry and didn't match the stuff I was used to from my youth. We've been buying these 3 lb buckets every other month for the past 6 months and have been incredibly pleased. The cheese comes cold and fresh and is great for everyday use in salads and omelets and in Greek specialty recipes as well.Great product

The best cheese I've tried in a long time!
I bought this cheese to make a Greek Spinach Pie. The first review on this product was slightly discouraging, but the price was great and I wasn't going to eat it uncooked. So I decided to get it. The cheese came nicely packed, it was still cold because of many ice packs it was surrounded with.Because of the first review, I was expecting it to smell bad. I was pleasantly surprised, that the cheese smelled like a nice fresh cheese and nothing else! It tasted wonderful, I ate most of it fresh, without cooking. My spinach pie came out outrageous. My husband loved it ( even though he's not a big fan of spinach). I'll definitely buy this cheese again and again!

Hard to get
Loved this feta, great flavor and value when I bought it. The only downside is that it is hard to get, is not always available for order and no longer free shipping so the value is not that great anymore.
