Makita DHP482Z 18v LXT Li-Ion Combi Drill 2-Speed- Blue- Naked- Replaces DHP456Z

This drill is compact and powerful. It is not top of the range and not brushless but for general home use more than most will need. The brushes should last for years, the only failure i have seen was at work with a higher spec drill that i was really abusing while drilling 26mm holes in a 20mm thick rubber belt.It came without any manufacturer packaging in a plain box with an instruction manual. It was fitted with a belt hook.It is fitted with an LED that illuminates while in use. The 13mm keyless chuck provides a very secure hold for drills or bits. It clicks when being tightened or loosened, which was a little confusing initially as my previous chucks did not do this and i thought the chuck was defective until spinning it with a battery fitted to find it worked perfectly !The gearbox allows hammer action, drilling, and screwing with torque adjustment. From my experience Makita metal gears are not known to fail.If you want a drill that you can buy and not worry about it failing at the first whiff of hard work it is worth paying the extra for one of these. OK, the batteries and chargers are not cheap but they have all the power stated, last well and charge quickly.These drills have the power to drill a 13mm bit through 10mm steel plate, cheap brands often struggle with a 6mm bit and overheat in the process !Having four LXT batteries and 2 chargers for my work tools buying a bare unit was a perfect way to get a decent drill at low cost.

Easy to use

The drill is good overall but don't buy if you're thinking of drilling mostly into metal. It will do the job fine when drilling into softer materials than metal, I have burned 2 drills doing mainly metal with a 12mm drill bit

This was £20-30 cheaper on Amazon than any other tool sites.
