Excellent bag, but easily worth the price!
I had been wanting one of these for years, but never pulled the trigger because of the price. The build quality is phenomenal, it’s super comfortable, and all the pockets are perfect and easy to access! I seldom use a hydration bladder, but that feature works amazing as well.I first used it when I was a camp counselor, and it was amazing! Not too much molle, but more than enough for everyday activities. The water bottle pocket is a lifesaver, having the extra strap makes it a million times more ergonomic, and being able to swing it to the front is such a useful feature! It’s easily swung to the front if you need to quickly grab something or get in a car. The zipper pulls can all be fastened on the side with the little drawstring and it definitely stops pickpocketing (there’s a camper who’s excel at pick pocketing to mess with staff, he gives stuff back but still). My only tiny gripe is that the water bottle pocket is on the bottom when you swing it to the front, but it’s workable so I don’t mind! It also fits a 26 oz yeti bottle perfectly.

Better than advertised. Just great quality and design.
Glad I didn't get the bigger one because it's easy to overload it because it's built so well. I work outdoors so I carry tools, map case, GPS etc and the bag just works good. When surveying I can secure my data collector and access it by flipping the bag to the front. I'll throw some charges in it and tools and paddle out to blow a beaver dam. Can keep a handgun close by safely and accessible should you need it. The molle webbing is handy. Lots of pockets to organize small items. Handles water well. Easy to clean after getting muddy on the side by side. I don't go anyplace without this bag and when I need another bag of any kind I will just go straight for Maxpedition. Super product and worth the price.

Five Stars
This bag changed my life and has sentimental value. My MacBook Pro 13 inch (mid-2014 retina) fits fine and unlike others, I do like to use it this way at least when I fly since I use only this bag and a Northface Base Camp 90L to carry everything I own. The bag is high quality and looks great. I load it down as heavy as I feel like and I never worry that it will break nor do I whine about having 12 kilos on one shoulder. Sorry (not sorry) but the negative comments regarding these bags do not sound like they come from the type of people that the bag was designed to appeal to. They doesn't mean those concerns are not valid, but the star rating should somewhat reflect this, in my opinion. The company name even says "Hard-Use" right between Maxpedition and Gear. I'm jsayin...However, it is such a versatile bag, that it appeals to not only military guys but all sorts of fashion minded folks (even avid scuba diving travelers) and that is a good thing. I don't mean to criticize the naysayers, but as a "hard use" kinda guy, I say put your lap top in it if you want to, then load it down with 20 kilos (if it is even possible) and then put full Nalgene in the pocket for even more weight. It won't hurt the bag. It probably won't hurt you either. My laptop has not been damaged.

Very sturdy bag with ample storage.
This backpack is very well made. My only wish is that the side the strap is on would be switchable. Wearing this for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week gets kinda bad on the one shoulder.

Perfect for day trips
I've been trying to find a pack small enough to not notice I'm wearing it, while large enough to carry what I don't want in my pockets or travel packs, and this one definitely fits that bill. While I don't consider myself a "hard use" consumer, I do ultimately pack a lot of extraneous items to take with me every week. A lot of things just didn't have their own space, so I was over loading much larger packs as a result. This pack let me attach two 6"x4" pouches to the shoulder strap's MOLLE points, for my wallet, phone, and other various small items, on top of holding my 10.5" iPad Pro, desk charger, cables, PSP, with plenty of room to spare. The main MOLLE point on the face is good too, though going for something more low profile there is best bet, anything bulkier will stick out a bit. Despite that, whatever is attached, stays secured. The price for it was a consideration up front, but once I had it in my hands, I realized the quality of the entire pack is definitely higher than you'd expect. It'll be a little bit stiff at first, but over the first few times you wear it, it breaks in quickly and no longer makes that plastic-y crinkle noise from the lining. That said, like everything else, wear over time will truly tell.

This is quality!
I have a bit of an obsession with bags. I have stuck to mostly Osprey, Ogio, and Timbuk2. Went out on a limb here, and I was pleasantly surprised. This bag is solid. Strong zippers, heavy fabric, and excellent stitching. Plenty of padding in the strap. So many fun pockets to put stuff.

My second bag from Maxpedition!
Great bags that last. Quality made and stitched. I bought a knock off one of these 10 years ago that lasted a year. Ive have my second real Maxpedition for 6 years so far and its holding up great! Don't buy the knock off junk. Buy this for life

Nice backpack, high quality
Nice backpack, high quality, I just wish these were manufactured in the USA. Plenty of room for what I need day to day on the job as a Firefighter/Paramedic. I also carried this around Walt Disney World parks for a week and had no problem with it only having one strap. It was very convenient being able to swing it around to the front to get to what I needed without taking it off.
