Best comb, hands-down!
I freaked out when our child had head lice. I purchased around $300 in products as I was petrified that our entire family of 6 would contract the little nasties! I spent hours treating our child and within 3 days we had completely eradicated her head lice. It has been over 4 weeks and she hasn't had a single recurrence. This is by far the BEST nit removal comb available. I purchased 6 other combs and this is the best one to use on dry or wet hair, hands down! The key to getting rid of lice is 1.) Treat head with a pediculicide. 2.) Next, you need to comb, comb, and comb again. My child had blond hair to the top of her waist so the combing was a grueling part of our treatment, but it was absolutely necessary. Treating the hair only kills the majority of live lice, and doesn't remove all of the nits. I used the Lice MD kit to start (yes, the one with the harsh chemicals). Left it on my child's head for 30 minutes instead of the recommended 10 minutes (based upon reviews and advice from friends). Killed EVERY LAST bug! Step two, rinse and comb. After the first treatment, I pointed a bright light on her head and combed her hair for 6 hours, separating it in 1" sections, using a crappy drug store comb. It did not remove all the nits because the teeth were unevenly spaced. I tried 3 other combs, including the Nit Free Terminator lice comb - none of them were as good as the LiceMeister on dry and wet hair.Washed all her clothing on sanitary setting with Clorox or Clorox 2, dusted all surfaces and vacuumed her bed and bedroom thoroughly. I also vacuumed the entire house and made sure all her clothing and non-washable personal items were wiped off, put in the dryer on high heat for 45 minutes, and/or placed in sealed bags for 72 hours. Basically, anything that came into contact with her was wiped off, sealed off or vacuumed.I combed her hair the following day, spending another 6 hours. Removed another 10-15 nits, mostly with fingernails since the store bought combs were useless, and found no live bugs, cut out the ones the comb wouldn't remove. Did the same thing on Day 3 - again no live bugs - but spent around 5 hours combing with the LiceMeister! Another 8-10 nits were successfully removed! Day 4, spent 4 hours and found another 7 nits.I also ordered a family size Clearlice kit, which arrived around Day 6. The green Clearlice comb that came with her kit was phenomenal so long as she had conditioner in her hair, but the Clearlice comb did not work on dry or wet hair as her hair would get stuck in the teeth. The comb was wonderful when used with the Clearlice conditioner, however, and helped get several difficult nits out.As a precaution, she washed her hair with non-toxic Clearlice pediculicide Shampoo and pediculicide Conditioner on Day 6 after our initial treatment, combed again and found 2 nits. Day 7, I checked her head and she was completely lice and nit free. Followed up by having her wash her hair with Clearlice repellant shampoo and repellant leave-in spray conditioner. She used the repellant products for 2 weeks, I checked every other day and although her head was healing and there was quite a bit of dandruff, she was completely lice and nit free!It sounds tedious, but no one in our family, including myself (and I have very long hair) contracted lice! Most of the folks I know don't follow-through after the first treatment and expect the pediculicide to get rid of everything without doing all the brushing. They commonly report a reinfestation, or falsely blame the product claiming it didn't work. Sadly, the treatment and combing is what was required to permanently knock it out fast, especially given the length of our daughter's hair. The Clearlice family size kit plus LiceMeister would have been sufficient in treating her hair from the start, but at the time I ordered it, the delivery was delayed due to inclement weather, and we couldn't wait 6 days to start treating her hair. However, if I had been able to rush ship the Clearlice and order the LiceMeister on the side, I think we could have skipped the initial Lice MD treatment. If you're in a similar boat and need to treat ASAP, I'd go ahead and recommend you use Lice MD since it is readily available in most drug stores (we found it at CVS). Obviously, the longer you wait to treat it, the more likely it will spread.Best of luck!

Seems to work in hair better than cheaper ones
Our building had lice and every apt. was affected. I used comb many times a day and soaked comb in pyrex cup of just boiled water after each pass thru hair. I ended up buying 5 combs bc they worked well and it sped things up.

Hard work, but worth it!
Skip the chemicals, mayo, Cetaphil, and olive oil, and make up your mind to use this comb every day until the lice are gone. Period. This is not easy but the only way. The only way to get rid of them is to remove them from the child's head physically with this comb. No chemicals will do it alone. I suggest shampooing the hair in the sink. Put in a leave-in conditioner. Sit your child by the bathroom sink in a chair. Put some water in sink with drain blocked. Brush out hair, then comb out well with regular comb. Section off the hair with clips and comb out all the hair with the lice comb, each time putting the comb in the water and shaking off. I usually start at the scalp underneath the section and comb outward, then go from the top on same section and comb downward. Then rinse. If there are full grown lice in the comb you will need to wipe it off with a paper towel as they get stuck in there. You will see how many lice are coming out into the water. Some are red, some are black. The adult ones are sandy brown. The nits are sometimes hard to see. That is why you have to lice comb the hair every day for 4-5 days. This takes time but much less time than fooling around with overnight treatments, having to wash it out and get to school the next day on time, etc. You will be washing a lot of laundry already. But if you do it this way, they will be gone in less time and you will have less laundry to do. Just figure out what will keep your child occupied for about 20 minutes, be firm that this is what needs to be done, and do it. It takes me 20 minutes with shoulder length fine straight hair. You will get faster with it by about the third time anyway. Some say putting white vinegar in the hair instead of conditioner loosens the nits while combing. Also finishing off with tea tree oil on the scalp, a very small amount, will turn the lice off from sticking around too long. I also mix with water in a spray bottle and spray their linens. The strong smell wears off within an hour. The whole ordeal is dreadful but you can get rid of them.
