Good stuff. Like it alot. No defects.
Think I paid around 150$ for this. Is nice. I like it. I read the reviews. Mine came sharp. Not about to take it apart to check out the tang. If people are using it for cutting, irregardless of the possibly screwey tang, edge on it must be good. Especially clamped between the handle. Is comfortable for me to hold and swing. Read about manganese steel and am still confused. Am a knife guy. Besides that am familiar with 1065 and 1095 carbon steel. I do really like the handle. Wish they would make higher end Katanas with a durable handle like this. Wrapped handles eventually need to be rewrapped. I know cuz I have one, gonna have to buy a book on rewrapping cuz I don't have a local sword shop. Haha.Blade is very nice, no major defects. A few light feather scratches that's about it. Nothing major or noticeable. Can be buffed out. No biggie. No Harmon line. Which is normal for this type of steel. I'd rather have none than a fake one. Is nice overall. Very sturdy. Nothing is loose or jiggly. For 150$ is a good buy. Is lighter than my other Katanas too. Which is nice. If the apocalypse ever goes down....is really the next best thing to a gun.

4 and 1/2 Stars. Great Sword.
I ordered this thinking that it was the Hanwei Tactical Katana. IT IS NOT IN ANY WAY AFFILIATED WITH HANWEI. So don't be deceived like I was. However, it is pretty much of equal quality to the Hanwei tactical line from what I've found. The real name of the sword is the Munetoshi Tactical Katana, which is pretty much a rebranded version of the United Cutlery tactical line.IT IS NOT FULL TANG. At least the wakizashi version isn't. So I strongly believe that the katana isn't either. The blade is welded about 3 inches into the handle in a "V" shape to the surrounding metal so that it appears to be full tang(I found this in a review someone made where they actually broke down a Munetoshi Tactical Wakizashi to find out). But the design is still very sturdy. It could definitely withstand for a very long time if all it went throughwas light to medium chopping, and would be durable enough to last (and survive with little blemish) in multiple combat scenarios if needed(But God forbid that you'd need to use it in such a way). All in all a really great buy. I don't regret it at all. The seller did fine getting it here and it came pretty sharp. The saya(scabbard) is wooden if you're wondering. I will be considering getting the wakizashi to match. And since I found some people who preferred this one to the Hanwei version, it makes me feel better about stumbling upon this.4 and 1/2 stars if I knew how to rate it like that.

Combat Worthy!
This Katana is almost a replica of a world warII infantry Katana!, With acceptions, Modernity, and design refinements!Modernity would be it's forging, non covenventional and efficient, second would be blade design? Traditional to a degree but this katana is very straight, very sharp! And in my opinion very well balanced! This is a purposed built sword! To Be Used with no Acceptions! With no fear of destroying history! There are some features that do not lend themselves to a sword combatant factor, but draw it and you will see that it feel'svery easy to grip, and formidable! When you are a combatant, you do not wish to possess a weapon that is priceless! Only purpose built and practical! If you destroyed your Katana in combat it would have been for a good reason! My recommendation is make the purchase and not be afraid of its potential!(5/28/2016) buy it! If I were deployed, this would be on my side.

Great Modern style sword
This sword is an incredible buy for just under $145. The sword came well package, no damage to the sword. It was sharp right out of the box. Not razor sharp, but paper cutting sharp. Nothing loose, fits tight in the saya, tight fit to the habaki and there are no sharp points on the handle. The blade is smaller in profile than the average katana. Some distal taper but not alot. The fuller or bohi is wide and deep, much more prominent than the average katana's. It's light and well balanced. I highly recommend anyone who likes katana to buy this. Only draw back that I can see is that some of the glue on the handle and guard sticks out, but for less than $200 you really shouldn't expect perfect finishing. And of course manganese steel isn't the best option to make a sword, so durability might be a factor to consider.Spec on the sword I received28 inch blade length including the Habaki9.5 inch handleWeight without Saya 2.05 ibsWeight with Saya 2.45 ibsPoB: 4.6 inches from the guard
