The pencil is really cool and one of the best ones that I came across. Feels look and feel is nice, the grip is excellent and writes smoothly. I have purchased 2B leads which have improved the writing even better without having to press harder over the paper. I have not used it for sketching, but I think this would be quite useful.

The marked price is 1000 Yen.Kuru Togas are writing pencils, not drawing pencils. Personally I love them; this is my third one.TL;DR: I recommend this for people who write with separated letters and a near-vertical grip.The Kuru Toga mechanism automatically rotates the lead by 9° every time you lift the pencil off the paper, thus (in theory) always maintaining a sharp writing "edge" (not a point). This gives you a darker and thinner stroke than a normal mechanical pencil. The rotation mechanism is useless when drawing long continuous lines.The lead rotation mechanism was created primarily for Japanese writing, where every character consists of many separate strokes. Since this is also somewhat true of many Indian scripts, the mechanism works well for writing Hindi and other Indian languages. When writing English, it works fine if you write in print (separated letters) but not quite as well if you write in cursive (running hand).If you write primarily in cursive, I would recommend the Kuru Toga Advance or the Advance Upgrade, both of which have a double speed (18° per stroke) rotation mechanism. The double speed mechanism also seems to be a tiny bit more reliable when writing with the pencil at a shallow angle, i.e., far from vertical.Features:The knurled aluminium grip is the defining feature of this particular Kuru Toga model. It is one of the best knurled grips I have used. One of the main benefits of a knurled grip is that it doesn't become slippery if your hands are a bit wet.The lead pipe is non-retractable. The benefit of this is that you can use the pencil with a ruler/straightedge. The downside of a non-retractable sleeve is that if you carry the in your pocket, you run the risk of damaging your clothing or the pencil (or your skin).The eraser is thin and manually extendable.There is a small rubber ring around the nose cone that prevents the pencil from sliding around on, say, a smooth table. There is also of course a pocket clip that acts as a roll-stop.Construction: The build quality and fit and finish of the pencil is good, as expected at the price point.The nose cone, grip section, and pocket clip are metal but the upper body/barrel section is plastic.As with all Kuru Togas, the internal mechanism is mostly plastic but the clutch is brass. This means that the basic pencil functionality should continue to work for years, but the auto-rotation may degrade over time.

It's only good for those who writes each alphabet seperately and not useful for those who are habitual of not picking the pencil of the paper while writing such as cursive writing and so on.However the built quality is superb, the aesthetic is superb and the weight is superb

Always wanted to have a metalic mechanical pencil. Although the price is bit high to mh understanding. It gives me the much needed comfort while using it. Wanted a 0.7mm but had to settle for 0.5mm.

The pencil tip rotates only on lifting it from the paper so in order to keep the tip sharp, one needs to keep lifting the pencil very often, like lift after writing every letter. Probably best suited for Kanji. For writing in cursive English, it will feel like any regular mechanical pencil. Also for the price, I would have expected complete metal body, it is mostly made out of plastic.

This is an excellent piece of pencil. Made out of metal and probably will last for atleast a decade. It has this mechanism that constantly rotates the lead so that you always write/draw with a fresh edge. Overall great experience. Recommended.
