Built like a Tank
It sure pays to spend a bit more and buy a quality product! This fan is excellent in every way. Definitely NOT China! Made in Germany; assembled in the US. So well made it reminds me of the old days when things were actually build to last. Details. It is totally silent. Virtually 0 noise from the fan. Only the sound of wind, with a slight hum if you listen really hard. Everything about this unit is top level - even the system for attaching the power wire. The fan is pre-wired into a Molex connector. Just slip in the power wires and tighten the screws. And several powering options are provided, with different connections on the Molex. The only possible negative comment would be regarding the attachment of the mounting bracket to the fan body. Screws were provided but that would have meant driving metal screws right through the fan housing. Fearing coming too close to the impellers I chose instead to use two part, high strength epoxy to attach the mounting plate. It worked well. Overnight setup. Did the job without compromising the integrity of the air chamber.

Quiet. Installation was moderately difficult.
Nice and quiet fan. Works well. I have about 5’ of flexible duct between the fan and the bathroom. Not sure it if pulls the full CFM as advertised. But it does have pull a steady stream of air.The screws that were included to close the lid on the electrical enclosure were too short to reach through the plastic lid and grab the plastic boss on the body of the fan. I had to climb out of the attic and get some longer screws to finish up the installation. The mounting system is good for noise isolation. However, getting the rubber grommets between the fan body and the metal plate while also threading in the screw is difficult. I dropped the rubber grommet and the screw multiple times. (Spent 10 minutes searching through insulation to find it again. Place a plastic garbage bag under the unit during installation to avoid my mistake and catch the parts when they inevitably fall.

Good air mover.
Used to vent one bathroom. Cut into 4-inch insulated flex duct, joined with another 4-inch duct from second bath; wye to two 3-inch flex vent pipes to get under narrow roof soffit. Mounted fan on 1x12x36-inch board across three celling joists. Wrapped with 4-inch fiberglass insulation to help prevent condensation. Took old fan out of celling box. Quiet, no more moisture on mirror nor on walls. I pre-heat the fan by running a few minutes before the shower to help with condensation inside the fan and duct work. I do leave a furnace register open to help the fan breathe. Love it.

Runs quiet and pulls good colume of air
First I installed a Fantech 2190 radon fan in my attic. Fan was loud and pipe vibration too. Nosie was noticable in the rooms two stories below. All pipe in attic was hung with plastic straps. So I changed fans to the Fantech FR 100. Now no noticeable vibration on fan or the pipes. The fan is also whisper quiet. Airflow reading on the pipe in our basement is the same as the 2190. One issue during the install. The pipe in our radon system is 3" PVC. So bought rubber couplings to make the connection between 3" and 4" pipe. The end of the 4" coupling was bigger than needed and would not work. Solution was to buy a third coupling and cut it into a strip that wrapped around the pipe coming out of the fan (once around). Then the end of the 4" coupling connected to the fan and we were good to go. No glue or tape needed. Perfect/tight fit.

Very quiet and Very useful
Had an old, noisy bath ceiling fan with two big heatlamps installed. You know those tiny, worthless fans that move no air at all along a 3" duct?Wanted more air movement but like the heatlamps.Took a bit of doing but I mounted the fan vertically in the attic (the vent pipe was inaccessible and, in fact was crimped in the attic...Used expanding aluminum tubing, some big clamps, ran the Romex inside the tube to the old fan for power and ease of switch installation and my wife LOVES it. This fan is mounted about 8 feet from the original and on the other side of a large 5/8 plywood sheet. When turned on, there is virtually NO noise at all from the fan. The only sound is that of the air being pulled from the bathroom. When one considers the price asked for quiet bathroom fixtures and the small amount of air moved, this Fantech fan is a godsend. Now I'm ordering two more for my rental house bathrooms. Clears the room of steam in a minute and odors in less.I told a friend of mine, a general contractor, about it and he's started using them in the homes he builds. This is a really great product.

Good bathroom fan.
I remodeled a basement bathroom and needed to use an inline fan instead of a traditional fan because of space issues. Over a period of months I researched fans and settled on Fantech. The fan works great and is really quiet. It's mounted to a wall behind the shower and I was concerned people would hear the fan in the family room 15' away, but the operation is virtually silent. There is a little whirring sound if I open the door, but it's almost undetectable. Inside the bathroom there is more noise, but it's not from the motor. Rather, it's the sucking sound of air being pulled out. There are 2 things I don't like.1) There is no ground to wire to within the box. I don't understand this decision by Fanteck, but the motor is mounted and working, but there the ground sire is tucked in and not in use. Strange to me.2) The mounting device includes rubber grommets, but it's not clear which screws should be used: the long ones or short ones. This is because the shorts ones seem too short. The instructions could be clearer about this.

Improper labeling!
Purchased this pump for my new Radon system through Amazon under:" Radon Pump",... search heading, and installed about 18 months after purchase. Worked fine until a bearing noise started one week into using. I was throwing the box away and small in "Small Print " . ...Not for Radon use...Unbelievable that I purchased under Radon Pump and have a pump that doesn't work!Waste 0of $225- $250 Dollars!
