great educational toy
I got one for my 2 year old and she loves it. This is a toy that works best when adult and kid play together. It will be too complicated for a 2 year old to assemble on her own, but great for playing together.

too complicated for 5 year old
I can't wait to pull it out when he's older because it is cool. We had read a magic school bus on electricity and Dad works for an electricity company so... but really, too many small pieces for him at age 5. Better to wait for age 7.

Got it for my 4 year old Grandson
I spent 1/2 hr doing the reading part to him, and he loved it for a week. Longer than most 4 year old toys by far. Excellent picture directions with 1 mistake.

Great for all my kids 4-9
All my kids love this. Even my 4 year loves to bring me his creations and show me what he can do. Fun, educational toy!

Hours of family fun and learning
We got this to expand our children's understanding of electricity. We have so much fun with it! Great learning tool!

lots of play time
We've been using this for lots of play time. The battery holder did not work but we just use a battery and touch the leads to it to send the electricity to the gadget.

Fun and educational!
I have two boys (ages 6 and almost 5), and they both love this set. For the most part it's great for younger kids because of the easy-to-use connectors. When they are snapped together, they stay together until you pull them apart, so there isn't the frustration factor that can come with flimsier connectors. One note, however: the two wire pieces are a little less durable than the rest of the set. Make sure to tell your kids to disconnect by pulling on the END CONNECTORS and NOT on the wires themselves. If they pull the wires, they can become disconnected from the end connectors (we've had to repair one of our wires). My 6-year-old spends hours going through the instruction booklet, doing all the example projects, and also has a lot of fun inventing his own circuits. He'll put them together and see if they work...then methodically move bits around until it does work. The booklet itself is really helpful. The projects (30 in all) are organized into groups: (A) learning to fit batteries, and connect components like lights and a fan; (B) learning about various switches; (C) series circuits; (D) parallel circuits; (E) mixed-connection circuits; (F) use of connecting wires; and (G) connecting vocal circuits (like making different sounds with the speaker by changing the connections). This kit is a great introduction to electricity and circuits!
