A lot of these suggestions have already been helping other autoimmune sufferers!
This book is one of the very few books I have read that do NOT contain any "fluff" (you know, the sentences authors usually include to make their books appear larger and therefore "more valuable"?) This book does not cover research details, and it is more like a comprehensive and organized outline that goes directly to the important points one needs to remember and apply in order to have relief. Indeed each sentence conveys meaningful and useful information. What a concept for some other authors!I bought this book because my good friend's daughter has RA. I read it because RA is an autoimmune disease, and I am a sufferer of a much, much more serious condition due to a compromised immune system. I have already been applying many of the suggestions in this book, and let me tell you folks, THEY DO WORK, BUT DOCTORS WOULD NOT TELL YOU BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT TRAINED TO KNOW THESE THINGS. YOU have to take control of your healing. Study, and apply what is good for your condition and your body, and at the same time you will also prolong your life with optimal health!Keep an open-minded approach to the best of proven healing techniques that are revealed in this book, a number of which are great also for acquiring a strong immune system and reduced chronic inflammation, which is considered the contributor to many of the diseases of aging. If a lot of these suggestions have already been helping other autoimmune sufferers of much more serious conditions like cancer, shouldn't Rheumatoid Arthritis sufferers give it a try? I do not easily write reviews, but I do recommend this easy-to-read, very well-written book.

Easy to Understand and How You Can Treat RA
I purchased this book because my Mom suffers from RA and I had hoped I could pick up a tip or two that would help her. I've read several books on the subject but this is the first book where it was easy to understand, well organized and not over my head. The author has suffered from RA in the past and shares her story on what she did to overcome the disease, but more importantly what we must do to have a healthy immune system to prevent auto-immune disease. I had no idea that most experts now consider RA an auto-immune disease. In addition, the author offers helpful information on diet and supplements that can help with the symptoms of RA. What I particularly liked about this book was the helpful section at the end of each chapter on the key points - very handy for future reference.Ms. Owen makes no false claims for this book being the "heal all" remedy for RA, but she does offer good sound advice on natural remedies and lifestyle changes (such as stress). A great alternative to another bottle of pills to "treat" your pain.

Short But Very Helpful Book
This book had a lot of helpful information. I have had RA for over 10 years and have been on Remacade for 8. After doing the research on Remicade I discovered after being on it for 10 years you are pretty much guaranteed cancer, liver damage and or kidney failure. I figured it was time to get off the drug even though the Rheumatoligist wouldn't help me with that, so I went cold turkey. I figured he was more interested in the $11000.00 that the hospital made every month from me sitting in a chair with an IV in my arm for 2 hours then he was about me getting cancer. After a year of being off the drug I started to ache badly again, so I started reading everything I could find on how the get some relief in a non cancerous way. I found this book and am really glad I did.In one of the chapters of the book the author talks about Low Dose Neltrexone being used to help people with auto immune diseases. It is in the experamental stages but has been helping people with out the horrific side effects as the more expensive Remicade treatments.I went to my doctor and she wouldn't let me have it, so I found another one who would. I have been on it for only 3 days now, but I have noticed a slight difference in the way I feel. I have gone form horrible to a bit less horrible. I am sure as I continue on the the LDN I will start to get my life back again with out having cancer to look forward to.I really apprecite the information I got from this book and hope that if you are in the same boat as me, you read the book. Don't give up on trying to get the LDN. It is not easy to get a doctor to perscribe it because it is new and doesn't make them as much money as the more conventional medications. There are only a few pharmacies that will compound the LDN and I am fortunate enought to be near one that will. (Canandaigua NY).

Good advice, but not surprising
The book is a good price and an easy read. It contains links to useful resources. Unfortunately, it lacks specificity and it didn't cover anything I didn't already know. I would recommend it to anyone who knows almost nothing about rheumatoid arthritis. If you've already read the wiki and talked to your doctor about treatment options, I'd get something a bit more in depth.
