Another Pixar gem that outshines Hollywood generics
STORYThis is the story of how Remy the rat, a budding proprietor of the joys of food, rose from his stereotype ranks to become a expert on fine cuisine, yet it is so much more than that, it's symbolic of all cultures that underestimate and segregate other cultures. Hence there are many adults I would recommend this film to subliminally tell them to be more open minded! Symbolism aside, it's charming tale of a small rat facing a big world via his passions for food. The events early on in the film lead him to a Parisian restaurant where he encounters the restaurant that is the legacy of his TV chef hero. There he manages to befriend a hopeless sap of a chef, from which a zany partnership ensues.Though it follows a predictable animated movie plot (Small guy, becomes a good at something. becomes big guy, upsets those around him by selfish behaviour, reconciles by performing a big brave gesture) its all done with the elegance we have come to expect from pixar now, beautifully scripted, no bad voice acting, likeable characters, and a general sense of cohesion and flow, culminating in a pristinely done ending.BLU RAY QUALITYI bought Ratatouille just to see its prowess on bluray and I wasn't disappointed. As soon as Remy steps on to the screen, you can see every strand of fur in all its flowing glory. Its enthralling enough to look at that sometimes I was watching the film and not listening to it, missing bits of plot. Its graphically flawless as one comes to expect from a CGI animation like this and the colours are bold and strong with a wide ranging palette used in the film. There is no grain in the image and no blurriness apart from when intentionally added to the backgrounds to shift the focus. Sound is clean and clear with voices easily audible and plenty of work is evident on creating the background sound effects such as of a busy restaurant kitchen.OVERALLThis is definitely a bluray show off disc. Its worth buying just to ogle at the marvel of the technology used but it also helps that the film is of such a high quality. I don't think this is necessarily Pixars best, but it has an abundance of charm and quality that permeates through to your inner child.

Ratatouille(2007)
Ratatouille is a Pixar film that not many people talk about hardly ever. I think this is definitely a good film. I don't think its Pixar's best film by any means, however I feel Brad Bird did a great job at the storytelling here. Its quite a weird film in the sense that the main protagonist is a rat named Remy. The concept is bizarre. I find it weird that its a film based around a rat's desire to cook, granted I don't think that Gusteau's statement about cooking is false, anyone can do it and I think everyone should, its a film that will encourage a lot of people to want to cook. Also the fact the he controls the actions of his human counterpart Linguini by tugging his hair. I mean in the real world rats are full of dieases so this film kind of feels weird, but you accept it after a while. The film is well made. Brad Bird's direction is great. The actors are great and they do a wonderful job, particuarly; Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm and Lou Romano. The characters are great and likeable, I mean they're not classic characters or anything but they are serviceable for their roles here. The animation is stunning and the movie looks so good especially in HD. It is rendered well. I love the music score by Michael Giachinno is excellent and adds a flavor of France which is amazing. The movie is paced really well and it is hilarious, the comedy is great. Its a very enjoyable film, its not perfect because the concept is very weird, but it sort of works and sort of doesn't its hit and miss but Ratatouille is a lot of fun, its no masterpiece and its not up to par with the other Pixar films but its worth a watch. 8/10
