Very High Quality Carving Knife
I love Morakniv products, and this one does not disappoint. I was a little dubious about the fact that it is stainless steel, which is a bit odd as most carving knives, including Morakniv knives, are carbon steel. I’m not sure why they went with stainless for their hook knives, but I figured I’d give them a shot. LIke all my other Morakniv knives, this one was razor sharp right out of the box. And so far it is keeping it’s edge quite well. I strop it after every use, and it is holding up well. Just as well as my carbon steel knives. So I guess they know what they are doing, there in Mora (big surprise, I’m sure.)

Sharp and Precise
Being used to a different more acutely curved hook knife, this gently sloping one took a little practice, especially because it's sharpened on both sides. I cut myself the first time using it, but now it's my go to hook knife, especially for spoons with a wide bowl. You just can't push with your opposite hand!

Dangerously good
Really great knife- very sharp! However, be careful. The sharpness is quite literally a double-edged sword. You will be tempted to use your thumb to push the knife- don’t do it! Your thumb will thank you for your caution.

Mora makes good blades
Mora Kniv is a Swedish blade manufacturer known for their durable easily sharpen able high carbon knives. This blade seems to be stainless steel. The knife is impressively but simply constructed, and I've maybe saved some money by buying the left/right version sharpened on not edges... But if your carving style is the push the blade with your thumb style, then you would hate this one, and want the less costly left or right handed single edge type. There are a lot of names for hooked or bent knives, and many styles from different cultures. Hand carving of spoons and bowls seems to be a common Swedish cultural tradition ... Maybe because they make such a variety of cutting tools with high quality blades in Sweden?
