Keeps foods hot!
I bought this to send when my elementary-aged son wants a hot lunch and it works great for keep hot foods hot from morning all the way until lunchtime! He's even complained once or twice that things have been TOO hot, but I'd rather have that than have things slip into the temperature "danger zone" for food safety. As long as you preheat it with boiling water ahead of time, this thermos does the job! We have also found that this 12-oz size is perfect for a 6-year-old boy's appetite. Good product!

Keeps food hot for 4-6 hours!
My kids love taking hot meals in this to school! We own 2 of them. I’ve had them for 3 years and even run them through the dishwasher. The best brand that I’ve tried so far!

Great for homemade lunch
Keeps food warm. If I put food directly from the pot in, it’s decently hot by the lunch time. But if it cooled down a bit, before putting it in the jar, then the food is warm. Easy to clean! We like it a lot. We have another brand that doesn’t work at all.

Excellent for yummy over-night oatmeal, esp. with tea-bag flavoring!
I love the thermos; but I docked a star because it would would be less difficult to open if the lid was more indented or textured, to grip easily.Years ago a doctor suggested that I eat steel-cut oats to help lower my cholesterol. He also recommended that the oats always be soaked overnight.Soaking reduces phytic acids, to improve digestion and nutrient absorption.Soaking also helps to remove lectins; the rough outer coating of oats that can irritate your gut. After trials I ended up with "Bob's Red Mill Quick-Cooking Steel Cut Oats. (found on Amazon) This isn't like "instant oatmeal". Quality and flavor have been consistent.I discovered that a basic 8oz screw-on lid thermos is difficult to find in stores. The 8oz. size is perfect for a serving of oatmeal, esp. if you add toppings. (I keep a 1/4 cup measure in my oatmeal canister.)I top my hot oatmeal with banana or apples chunks, walnuts etc., and drizzle with local honey.FAST PREP: I fill the thermos with water just below the wide inside rim of the neck, and boil the water in a tea pot, or microwave.I then put a level 1/4 cup scoop of the quick-cooking steel cut oats into the thermos, and add the boiling water until just below the wide neck rim. Don't over-fill!Lightly tighten the lid to prevent too much vacuum forming from the boiling water, shake a little, and put in the fridge until morning. If the cover is difficult to unscrew, I keep round silicone food grippers on hand (also found on Amazon) so my hand doesn't slip while turning. Sometimes running hot water over the thermos lid works. The steel sides also have gripper bumps and a sleeve. The inside of the lid is also steel, unlike other thermoses with all-plastic lids.By morning, the "quick-cook steel oats" are cooked and ready for heating. Microwave in a cereal bowl for about 1.5 minutes, and add toppings if you like!MORE? After a while I decided that additional flavors might be a nice change of pace! I started by quickly dunking a herbal tea bag into the boiling water and oats a few times; just before closing the lid!Two favorites are Paul Newman's organic Cinnamon Spice, and the stronger Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice. (also found on Amazon)During summer herbal fruit teas are a nice change. The tea-bag flavoring is subtle, and healthy!

It’s perfect!
I’m so happy with this purchase! It’s the perfect size for my daughter’s lunchbox, is definitely leak-proof, and keeps her food piping hot until lunch time! I also love that is had a wide mouth so she can easily eat from the container. I always pour boiling water into the container, close the lid, and let it set while I’m prepping her lunch. It primes the container so that it keeps the food hotter for longer. I’ve packed everything from mac n’ cheese, to chili, and even chicken noodle soup in here without a single leak, even though the container is on its side most of the day. I’d also like to mention that while the contents inside are literally boiling hot, the outside is still cool to the touch. Very neat and a good investment so far!

6 hours, still hot!
I've tested this thing out twice before I send it to school with my kindergartener. First time was tomato soup at 6 hours - still comfortably hot enough to please an adult. Second test was tomato soup at 5 hours and still steaming hot, my child wouldn't even drink it at this temp.My only concern would be whether or not my 6 yr old can get the lid off - but that will come with most thermos. Perhaps if there were a different style to the lid allowing a small child to grab on easier. Nonetheless, it does what it says and now I'm off to find an adult size!!
