Bosch SG25M 2500 RPM General Purpose Screwgun

Don’t buy junk only used 4 times and the gears broke and the only want to refund 1/2 of my money said restocking fee??? Are they really going to restock a broken screwgun

Did exactly what it is supposed to do.

I purchased this for a major drywall project I'm currently doing. I've driven about 10lbs of screws so far, and I do really like this tool.In general, this is a really quality tool. It feels good in your hand, it feels tight and well made, etc. I purchased this one instead of the 4500rpm model because it is more versatile. I can say that I wish I bought this for the big fence I built last year, and I expect this to come out every time I have to drive a quantity of screws.I do have some minor quips with this. Again, this is a great tool, but when you are doing something monotonous like driving screws, you have time to nitpick:1. The motor lock on bottom can't be engaged with one hand. This means that you have to tack the drywall up with a couple screws to hold it in place, then you can lock on the motor and go to work.2. It seems to strongly prefer the fine thread screws. Because this does not have a torque clutch, it will spin the bit even if the screw binds. It's pretty easy to smoke a screwhead, and I chewed through a few bits before switching to fine thread screws. The fine thread screws work much better.3. I wish the depth adjustment had some numbers so you can return to your preset depth after making an adjustment.4. When using in wood, the shroud will dimple wood. Its goo in drywall for mudding over screws, but be careful on any wood where looks matter.Again, minor issues.

Although it appears to be a specialty tool for drywallers or deck installers I find myself reaching for this quite often. For those not initiated to screw guns like this and think it's the same as a drill w/ a philips bit, read on...(sorry for the length, hope its useful info for you)The screwgun is similar to, but distinctly different than a regular drill. It does have a clutch mechanism but the clutch disengages based on screw depth, not torque (those clicky clutches common on cordless drills are friction-torque type). Think about that for a second, depth not torque - here's why you want one of these guns:-ever put in a ton of screws while building a fence or a deck? or hanging drywall or tile backer board? or screwing in door jambs?+this device is specifically for running screws nothing else, so it is fast and effective. The only way to make this task faster is to put a screw feeder on the nose. With this gun and some practice, I can screw down a 3'x5' backboard in well less than 60sec.-noticed your screws are not sunk evenly and some minor adjustment with the drill or a screwdriver is necessary, or you've overdriven the screw and the head is too deep to effectively hold?+wood is an especially inconsistent material. Friction, density, knots etc all mean that the amount of torque necessary to drive the screw home is rarely consistent. With this gun, you are putting in maximum torque until the screw is the right depth, then none b/c the clutch disengages. This gun drops torque really fast at the right depth so its hard to overdrive the screw. Because the torque level is high until the right depth, it powers through hard or "sticky" wood with ease.-had trouble with torque spikes or jerks from a drill while trying to set the screwhead depth accurately?+the motor on this drill is spinning really fast so the torque output is silky smooth. The clutch engages and disengages smoothly.Other cool features:-standard 1/4" bits are used so any type of screw can be driven (philips, robertson, torx, slot etc)-there's a magnet in the bit holder so it will hold the screw b4 driving-the gun shape is really comfortable, the trigger is big. It's easy to operate with one hand using your pinky or bottom two fingers on the trigger.-motor is reversible so if you need to pull out a screw, pop off the depth adjuster and go for it. Depth adjuster pops off just by pulling on it.-depth adjuster is precise. One click either way adjusts the depth by ~1/64". It keeps its position despite constant use/abuse.-trigger is variable speed so you can tone it down if you're going into really soft or hard material. It's easy to keep the motor speed pretty constant-there's enough torque to easily twist off even hardened screws. This is especially true when driving into "stiff" materials like hardibacker, not a problem for typical wood etc. Here, you have to have more technique and either use lower motor speed or set the depth very carefully.-no need to stop the motor between setting screws, just keep the trigger pulled and allow the clutch to engage and disengage as you drive and then set the screw.-engaging the clutch is as simple as putting some pressure on the screw. Here's how you use the gun (after you've set the depth adjustment):1/ put screw on the bit, let the magnet hold it2/ put screw tip on the target and hold the screw parallel w/ the motor axis3/ pull the trigger and let the motor spin freely to a high speed (clutch not engaged yet)4/ push on the back of the gun to engage the clutch, watch as the screw VERY quickly sinks into the material5/ listen or feel for the clutch start to disengage (chatters like a cordless drill clutch) as the screw hits the right depth. Pull the gun off the screw & you're done.So why only 3 stars? After a few uses, the bit holder is not as effective. If you pull the gun off the screw at an angle or before the clutch is fully disengaged, sometimes the bit stays with the screw and not in the gun. I'm not a contractor so this minor productivity loss is not a big deal for me, but would be for others... Maybe the Hilti gun (which has good reviews) would do better at this?Also, the motor @ 2500rpm is noisy.Summary: fast and comfortable gun which excels at setting screws into a huge variety of materials with a minor problem keeping the bit in the gun's chuck/holder: 3stars.

Another quality tool from Robert Bosch. It is light and properly shaped so that you can push directly in line with the screw being driven without killing your hand or wrist. The speed control is very linear so it's easy to use on self-drilling steel framing screws, has plenty of power for even large #12 screws in heavy gauge steel.

First let me focus on the good of this great tool. I put in hundreds of screws with this screw gun while building my deck. They were all driven to as far as i can tell the exact same depth. the screw gun is comfortable to use. I especially like the two finger trigger. There is a feature to keep the motor running but I have not been comfortable using it yet.Now for the one flaw. There are times when the bit will get stuck in the screw and pull out of the screw gun. It is kind of a pain to put back in(especially when it keeps happening) However, i have found that if you barely push the trigger the motor will turn and the bit will line back up and will easily push back into place.

Extremely well made. Made in Switzerland - not China. Feels like a tough, durable tool in your hand. Doesn't feel like a toy like the Chinese made Porter Cable, Skil, Milwaukee or Dewalt (Mexico). Long heavy duty cord. Quality tool. I don't buy cheap made tools. I buy American made or European tools for their quality, durablility and to support the workers in America or Europe. I can't stand how so many American companies have abandon the American worker and yet want to keep the American name on their tools.

I used this for composite decking with 3 inch composite deck screws from Dunn Lumber. I set the depth on a scrap piece and worked one day with near perfect results. The next day the first board had many problems with screws not going in far enough. Finally I looked at the bit (T20) and compared to a new one. It was pretty worn so I replaced it with the new one and finished the deck with only a couple of bad drives. So all in all pretty good. I could not get the bit out by hand so despite the dire warnings in the instructions, I pulled it out with pliers and did not damage the tool in any way.
