Highly recommended
Fuji sure knows how to make lenses. The image stabilization in this lens is incredible. Images are perfectly sharp at all apertures. The 16 to 80 focal length makes it a perfect all around lens. Bokeh is very nice shooting at f/4. I did an entire senior session with only this lens. I highly recommend it

Fuji Got it Right AGAIN - It Almost Shoots Like a Prime!
OK, it's made in Vietnam, not Japan. You would never know it. This lens' build quality is so good that you'd swear it was a Japanese product (I've been seeing this past year or two many high-quality devices coming our of Vietnam, no doubt produce at brand-new plants built and managed by Japanese companies). Its silky smooth zoom is perhaps the best of any Fuji lens, and believe me, I've had experience with nearly all of them. It's slightly heavier than we would wish because most people want this as a single "go-to" lens without ever having to change lenses, and that means that weight is a factor. But it's not that heavy, just slightly more than the 18-55mm XF lens. And boy, do the photos look great. I've been testing indoors and outdoors for the past two months, and the lens seems to knock off one lovely photo after another with ease (I'm using it with an X-H1). And that silky smooth zoom operation just begs you to keep changing focal lengths as you shoot. And 16mm is pretty wide at the wide end, although it goes nowhere's near the width of Fuji's XF 10-24mm lens (but I consider that a specialty lens, and I really like using it in architectural shots - it's one of my favorite lenses). The 18-80mm lens will meet most all normal needs "on the street" and now we can finally get a lens that wide that also goes all the way to 80mm. This lens really does have you covered for 80% of the shots you want to take, unless you are specifically shooting, say, a cathedral, etc. when the 10-24mm lens is the one to beat. But for a one-lens solution, this is the best Fuji has to offer, and I am so glad that the build quality and the price and the image quality are all very good. So good, in fact, that you might mistake some of the shots as from a prime, and at most all focal lengths.Hooray! The Fuji "spinning aperture ring" dilemma is over! This model's aperture ring is beautifully tight, just right, and even has slight detents as you move it. It's about time! And, hooray again, this lens has built-in stabilization AND is weather resistant. So, even if you don't use an X-H1, you can pop it on any Fuji X-series camera and you have both features! (This also explains why the lens is just a tad on the heavy side.) Build quality is just what we would expect from Japanese Fuji "XF" lenses: all metal and glass construction, smooth controls, just lovely and impressive.I say it sincerely: if you purchase only one Fuji XF lens, let it be this one.I'll continue testing and updating this initial review as I go, but from everything I can see at this point, Fuji clearly has another winner on its hands, and few people are not going to be interested in it. A big Fuji Five Stars!

Extremely Versatile
I love this lens and even used it for most macro shots until I bought the 30mmMacro. I use it for everything else, too, including portraits & landscape and shots of small craft items I make. It has worked beautifully as a prime lens and fine for most macro, using flash in shady conditions. You need flash for a lot of macro shots anyway. To get really close, 1:1 macro, go with the 30mm F2.8 macro. For a versatile workhorse prime lens, this is great. As another reviewer said, think if F4 will work for you in a variety of situations. It’s been fine for me but I should add that I mostly photograph plants and small objects, and have the flash ready if I need it. If you do lots of portraits in low light, you’d probably want a faster lens.

So long as f4 is fast enough
If you contemplate buying this the most important question is will f4 be fast enough. For me it is yes but for it will be a definite no.The lens is not too big or heavy for an E-series body. On an S-10 body it feels just right. Probably if you gave equipment and skills to make precise measurements it will be optically inferior to Fuji’s single focal length lenses. But if you just concentrate on making and printing an image no one will notice. This is the first zoom I’ve owned that did not feel I needed to carry second lens just in case. Also, although it not a macro lens you can get pretty darn close.
