Dreamy Dress-UpsOrange Monarch Wings

My insect loving son wore these wings to school for "dress like an animal day". I wanted something easy for his teacher that he could wear under a light jacket in his car seat. These were perfect. He has ASD and SPD so it's important that they don't itch, make noise, restrict his movement, or obstruct his view the way a mask would. He does not normally wear this kind of thing for long or engage in pretend play, but these stayed on all day and he told everyone he was "a monarch" (not "dressed as a monarch"). He's 5, about 45 pounds and close to 50 inches tall. They fit him well with room to grow. They are light weight and somewhat see-through but well made. I plan to replace the elastic with larger pieces when he outgrows them, and the finger loops with wrist loops so we can get a bit more mileage out of them, they seem sturdy enough to last that long and take a bit of sewing. It is also a perfect tie in with one of his favorite documentaries "The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies" (season 4 episode 5 on NOVA available to watch on Amazon's streaming service) because they actually look like monarch wings which is very important to my little guy. It should be noted that there is a bit of glitter accenting the white spots, which some might take as a feminine detail. My son and I didn't care, but some might. Douglas has a nice assortment of realistic moth and butterfly wings available on Amazon, I especially like the look of the "Marsh Fritillary" and the "Clipper", they are on my wishlist now along with a few others.

Beautiful costume piece! Our 2, 4 & 6 year old all wear and love it and it’s held up great indoors and out. It is a little big for my 2 year old but nobody seems to mind! The straps are a very thick, comfortable elastic.

I bought these as a last minute, back-up costume as the full butterfly costume I ordered did not arrive in time for my daughter's Halloween party (that's what I get for ordering something that's not offered through Prime). They are fabulous. My five year old took them out of the package and had me show her how to put them on, and she was off. "I'm a REAL butterfly!" she yelled as she ran through the house, flapping her wings. She can work them perfectly and can easily take them on and off. I combined them with an antennae headband (that I made with pipe cleaners- not a crafty individual over here) and an all black outfit. I finished it off with some face crayons. All morning she's referred to herself in the third person as "the pretty butterfly."The best part of these (high quality) wings is that she can flap, flap, flap to her heart's content. She feels graceful like a butterfly, and there's no dealing with wires that get bent out of shape. Not to mention, after that one time showing her how to put them on, she can put them back on whenever she pleases.

These are adorable wings! Our daughter picked a Monarch butterfly as her Halloween costume and these were just perfect for it. I thought they would be stiff wings for some reason, but they are not. The wings go on like a backpack would, with elastic bands that go under the armpits. To extend the wings to look like a butterfly, the child uses the finger bands and extends their arms. They are a thing shear material, but still durable, and have sparkles on them. Very cute and her costume was a hit! The best part is that she can use these for dress up anytime, and not just halloween.

I purchased these wings as a gift for an average size two year old, and she adored them! They were a little bit large on her (they're a better size for a preschooler - early elementary aged child), but not so long that they were a tripping hazard. The material is lightweight and flowing without being thin/cheap. I expect them to be much more durable than the stiff nylon type of wings. Best of all are the little finger loops on the end of the wings that let the wearer run around with the wings flapping in the wind behind them. Definitely a hit; I will be buying more to give as gifts to all the toddler/preschooler kids on our present list.

We bought these for a Halloween costume and she wore it to the party at school today. The wings are very cute and have elastic attachments so tough they fit my 7 year old well, I expect her to be able to use them for a few years. There is no wire so they are very comfortable to wear and I think the elastic in the shoulder will accommodate a jacket as well as the leotard she wore today. They seem sturdy enough to make it though the 3 Halloween festivities, I'm not sure how long they will last past that. They do seem thin, but sturdy so hopefully she will get a lot of play from them. They are relatively realistic and she got a lot of compliments.

These wings would have been a replacement for a pair for my daughter that she had for 4 years. Item arrived well packaged and in good condition. Design was bright and colorful. My issue is with the material used. It's quite rough like sandpaper and had a slight bit of stiffness. I also didn't like that it was pretty transparent and I could see the clothes beneath the wings, which dulled the effect of the costume.

Daughter (5 years) loved the wings to complete her butterfly Halloween costume. I originally thought that she wouldn't like them as much as the stiff, wired wings but she LOVED them and they were so much easier to deal with than stiff wings! She put the finger loops through her thumbs and wore them almost all day at kindergarten. This style also made buckling into the car a breeze. The material is a sturdy gauze, with some glittering accents. They fit my tall 5 year old well and were correctly proportioned to her costume. Overall, very pleased with the quality and durability for the price I paid.
