I was born a silvery blonde, but eventually went to golden blonde and now I'm more of an Ugh-Dirty-Dark-Ash. I tried to get back to my original light ash color all of my life, but nearly 40 years of trying different ash blond products and I never once ended up with anything other than either dark orange or light orange. This is the first hair color I've tried that really was a nice soft medium ash color, with no orange! My hair pulls a brass color no matter what, but not with this. So glad I found it! It will be perfect for adding highlights later. Also, there is no awful smell and no scalp stinging. I only wish they had a "light ash" version (??)

I have been coloring my hair for over 30 years. I spent a lot of money in salons over the years and finally realized that I prefer to color my hair myself. Lately I was using Garnier and my hair was looking so dry. I saw this new Revlon hair color with no ammonia and I thought that it would help my hair to look healthier. I found this color to be gentle. There was barely any scent, and the scent was very mild. The color was a very thick cream and I felt that it wasn't as easy to distribute onto my hair as the original Revlon haircolor in the red box. The thing I did not like was that when you mix the color, the bottle seems to be too small and it squirts all over. I have never had this happen ever and I have used many brands of hair color. I thought maybe that the plastic bottle was faulty so I opened another box, mixed ingredients and the bottle just squirted color all over my sink, which I'm gonna have to bleach out later on today. Thank fully nothing squirted anywhere else except on the floor but I had a towel on it, just in case. I found this process very messy, like I said, I have colored my hair for a long time and never had a problem with any bottle from any brand squirting product all over; it just didn't flow well. I wont buy this product again for this reason. Hopefully they will change the bottle in the future or make the color cream more liquidy so it flows better from the bottle. Truthfully I think that the bottle should be a little bigger so mixing is easier, less problematic. The gloss that comes with this kit is worth the price of the box. I may buy this brand again, not to use the coloring, but to use the gloss that came with it. It made my hair so soft, so shiny and my hair feels so thick and healthy and my hair strands are very thin.My final verdict is give it a try. You may find that the gloss is worth all this trouble. My hair looks shiny, strong and all my greys are covered. I am going back to using Revlon colorsilk in the red box. Its a classic for a reason.

I have been using Revlon Colorsilk for 13 years. After trying numerous brands of black, it was the only true black I could find that did not fade to gray. I always noticed that after a couple of weeks, my hair would start to get frizzy until it was time to dye again. Two weeks it looked great, two weeks it looked ok...but always the right color. My hair grows fast, so I really could dye it every 3 weeks, but I make myself wait a month.I saw this advertised, and though it is twice as expensive...it is still very reasonably priced. I cut all the dead ends off my hair & gave it a shot. It has been more than a month since I dyed it, and though my blonde roots are showing and I need to dye again, my hair is just as nice & smooth as the day I first dyed it.I absolutely love the glossing cream that comes with it that you can use a little of each time you wash your hair. My hair feels healthier and looks great. I have found my new hair dye & I am not going back. If you are even considering it...try it!!

I have tried a handful of the more “natural” type of hair dye and this one does the trick! This one covers my grays 100% and it lasts a decent amount of time for the price you pay. I definitely recommend and I just hope they don’t discontinue it as it was harder to find the last couple of times I purchased.

It comes with the cheap floppy gloves and they are skimpy with the amount of dye mixture which means that it ended up spotty when I dyed my shoulder length hair. It would be fine for only doing your roots or if you have chin length or shorter hair. Fortunately I was only changing my color a little lighter and I had also purchased a box of root touch-up dye at the same time, so it was fixable. It did however mean that I was paying twice as much.I appreciated that, not only did the dye itself not make me gag but, the conditioner is NOT COCONUT!!!!! I don’t want to smell like a piña colada, so the mildly scented conditioner that didn’t reek of coconut was definitely a positive! That stench is the sole reason I quit using my last brand. Additionally my hair did not get dried out or frizzy even though I leave the mixture on for 35 min because my gray hairs just will not take the dye if I don’t leave it on for "too long". This brand can handle the extra time without causing damaged hair!My hair tends to get red highlights every single time I color it, regardless of a brand claiming no brassiness, or being ash blonde, or getting me to purchase some purple goo to get rid of the red (don’t bother, it doesn’t work). This means that even if I manage to get a color that has only an acceptable amount of red, I will have to dye the full length of my hair about every 3-4 times to return the ends to a color I like. Because of the limited amount of dye mix in this brand, I will continue to my search for a brand that will dye ALL of my hair, has a conditioner that doesn’t stink of coconut, won’t leave me with strawberry blond hair, and can be left on past the recommended time limit without drying out my hair or leaving it frizzy.
