We already had the Cat in the City mat that came with the markers, so this placemat was an addition. My daughter is 5 and lives to color. Some restaurants don't have coloring available for kids and as a solution, I usually carried a small pad of paper and crayons in my purse for her to use. However that amounted to a lot of treasures my daughter couldn't part with, even if they were just photocopied coloring pages. The Modern Twist mat is the perfect answer to that.The drawings are intricate enough that she is occupied the entire meal (often does not want to stop coloring to eat!). She can begin a coloring project and pick up where she left off the next time we go out. It erases easily with a wet napkin or even a finger as my daughter discovered.The colors do become a bit muted as they dry on the mat, but are still beautiful. I love these placemats so much I am giving sets with pens to my nieces for Christmas.

Very cute, but VERY small. Bought the mat without markers & only saw measurement of 12 x 16 size mentioned. Mat was 8 x 12 (maybe smaller - have already repacked to return).

Great quality. Holds up. Washes easily. Kind of small, but good size for toddler.

This mat is so useful to bring to restaurants with my grandkids. I have many of them. They wash up easily and cleanly. Highly recommend.

Very pleased with this placemat. It is extremely thin, so it rolls easily for travel. It's not thick where my 18 month old can get his fingers under it easily, so it stays in place. It has all the letters of the alphabet with lots of pictures too. We haven't used the markers, but for now it's a great conversation/learning mat to use when traveling. It's better than any paper placemat at restaurants. I looked for a long time before purchasing this brand and so far it's the best.

This is a nice-looking placemat. However, it states in the product description that "a simple wipe down is the only requirement to prevent staining," and this is not the case. During its first use, my child ate pasta with red sauce and I cleaned up the spills right after he was finished eating. The red sauce stained the placemat. It's a shame since it was so expensive...Also note that the placemat does not come with the markers.

I really love these to keep stuff off the table, but if they get any kind of red sauce (like spaghetti sauce) it can be hard to get out when washing unless you wash immediately and even then doesn't always come out. I never use the pens that come with them, but the kids love to look at the pics while they are waiting for me to get them plates of food/snack.
