It's never too late to live!!
Awesome book. A must read for everyone, and I do mean everyone!!!! This book has the potential to turn my life and yours a bit upside down until those who simply are takers understand why the change. I have begun to say "no" when I do not wish to do something. When anyone is accustomed to your compliance to their wishes, however inconvenient to your values, time, or desire, the change that takes place is hard for both parties. The "no" from you will empower you, and the one receiving the 'NO' will be shocked, and then may display disappointment, bewilderment, and even anger. Your "no" has broken that spoke in the wheel and then things don't run as smoothly as when you were compliant and a pleaser. Change is hard for everyone, and I believe the most difficult will be for the one who is causing the changes. It is clear from reading that the one bringing the changes for themselves will have the most difficult task because they are changing themselves which in turn requires and/or demands change form various persons in their lives. If changes don't happen, or people you have allowed or believed to be close to you in life don't change, or show you they are not true friends, then for your happiness and ability to move on those persons will need to be removed or, put on a back burner in your life.I know that what this book requires will be difficult, and the process time consuming, but the outcome will far out weigh those, and instead will empower and cause you to create a new you, and the you that is happy and feeling whole. Not believing in coincidences, I believe this book presented itself to me when it was most necessary. I do wish that I had had this book 40 years ago. I recommend it for everyone. We can lose who we are too easily allowing others to take charge over our lives for a myriad or reasons. We must all stay strong in being ourselves with integrity, truth and conviction, and done so with peace. Without hurry, with thought, and staying on course each day this book will change lives.

No means Know...Which leads to “Yes”
Are you “spending precious time when you could’ve been making time precious.”Do you say “yes” to everything? Do you take on too much? Are you a caretaker for others at your own expense? It’s time to say “no.” If you don’t, James and Claudia Altucher teach, you will die.“No” is one of the shortest words in the English language. We don’t use it enough. In The Power of No: Because One Little Word Can Bring Health, Abundance, and Happiness, James and Claudia Altucher show the limitless power of “no”, explaining how using it correctly leads to “yes.”The Power of No says every time we fail say no to things that get in our way, we die a little bit to ourselves, our future, our talents. We fail to develop into the person we should become--the one the world wants us to be. We get stressed, sick, and depressed. Our pursuits, jobs, and relationships crumble. The Power of No saves us from this, putting us in the right space to achieve our dreams.I expected to like this book. I loved it. Claudia Altucher’s 21 Things to Know before Starting an Ashtanga Yoga Practice and James Altucher’s Choose Yourself inspired me to start thinking about how I develop myself and use my time. The Power of No takes these lessons to the next level showing me how to say no to the clutter so I can say yes to myself. The Power of No spoke to me personally, as it will you. The “seven types of no” are organized in easy-to read sections with activities throughout. I bookmarked them for frequent use.You should read this book if you’re interested in motivation, self-improvement, psychology, business--it’s a textbook for success in whatever field you’re in. I’m in education--I’ll definitely give copies of this book away. My major takeaways: 1. Say “no” more often 2. Saying “no” is a risk but it reaps a bigger reward. 3. Ask for help. James and Claudia say “help” is the second most powerful word in the English language.Say “yes” to this book, then put “no” to work for you.

Took me a while to get through, but great book overall
So I started reading this book a while ago - maybe a year or more? I like James Altucher’s writing a lot. I’ve read other books by him. This one lost me halfway through and it sat in my Kindle until just recently. I revisited from where I left off, and wow. The last half of the book was amazing. I guess it had to wait until now to have meaning for me, but - makes me want to go read the first half again just to see what I missed when I started it. The last half was so good I’m giving it four stars. Not five since I have a hard time giving five stars to a book I was ever able to walk away from.

AN IMPORTANT BOOK FOR ANY PERSON ON THE PATH OF SELF-ACTUALIZATION
I am a big James Altucher fan. He is a terrific writer and I can hardly wait to read every article he posts on his blog. James writes from real life experience and he has had amazing experiences and a very full life. He has soared and also crashed and burned. But the important thing is that he has learned and grown from his experiences and has a great deal of wisdom and excellent practical, applicable advice. His wife Claudia is part of team Altucher and if you see her in her advanced yoga postures, you will marvel at her mastery in the art of yoga, but she also has a great deal of wisdom and depth. This is an important book for many people. Learning how to say "No" to the wrong people, the wrong opportunities, to peer pressure, to the "wisdom" of the crowd, is a key to living a self-actualized and fulfilling life. This book is a manifesto for choosing the life you want, not the one you feel pressured to live by outside forces, family members, and authority figures.I couldn't agree more with this sentence from the "NO BILL OF RIGHTS" in the book:"You decide whom you say NO to. You are entitled to choose your tribe, regardless of what society imposes on you. You decide who in your life drains you of energy, and then purge them so you can soar."I highly recommend this book to those who are committed to self-improvement, self-growth and self-actualization. It's a WINNER and very deserving of 5 STARS!
