I've trialled many forms of magnesium supplement, as well as loose powder vs capsule. This product is best for covering my nutritional deficit without side effects.I take it with food, because it does still cause loose stools if taken without food (common to all magnesium supplements, but not BulkSupplement's Magnesium Citrate powder...which makes you wonder what that company is actually putting in those bags).Compared to NOW Magnesium Citrate powder, which was hardly soluble, tasted awful, and would cause loose bowels even when taken with a meal...this Magnesium Malate form in capsules has none of those problems.

I specifically bought this form of magnesium as I'd read it had less of a laxative effect than other forms. I wanted it for leg cramps. It still works a bit as a laxative, not as bad as mag citrate. I'll continue to search for a less laxative form if it exists.

I love these and from what I can tell they're not being made anymore. They've been reformulated as a tablet which is going to force me to switch brands when I run out. Tablets just aren't as effective. Idk why the manufacturer would switch.
