Theater Solutions 2R4S Outdoor Sandstone Rock 2 Speaker Set for Yard Patio Pool Spa

Bought the 8” speakers and have to say they are a major improvement to our old Insignia ones and pump out the music. Very happy with this purchase.

I replaced 4 defective Niles speakers that ranged in age from 18 months old to 10 yrs old. I do not think the Niles RS6 are durable. I have purchased 7 Niles 6 inch speakers over the past 10 years and 6 shot craps!I am an audiophile, so when I gave up on Niles, and their $200-250 per speaker price tag, I looked around for the best rock speakers. The reviews on these speakers were great and the price was unbelievable. I honestly thought they were going to sound horrible and I planned on just returning them. To my surprise, I plugged them in, turned them on and they lit up my back yard!No rock speaker has the sound quality of an indoor speaker in a cabinet. However, the highs were solid, the mids and vocals were clear and the bass was more than acceptable. (There weakness is clearly bass reproduction. It is solid but not great) I compared the 2R8S to my one remaining fully functional 6 inch Niles rock speaker and it was louder, meaning more efficient with less power, and had superior highs and mids. Where the Niles speaker had a slight edge was bass reproduction. The Niles was tighter and deeper even though it was a 6 and not an 8. Most, probably won’t notice the difference in bass quality. More, knowing bass is usually the weakness of a less expensive speaker, I cheated by buying the 8 over the 6. Also, I adjusted the bass, crossover and internal eq settings on my amp and now, the bass is just as good as the Niles rock speaker! At $200 cheaper per speaker these definitely blow the Niles 6.5 rock speakers away!Durability is unknown right now but at $50 per speaker who cares!!!DO NOT OVER POWER THESE SPEAKERS!!! The manufacturer may rate them for 200 watts but 100 Watts at about 80% up is about it.

Had these installed for a about 24 hours so no comment on longevity. I will give only initial impressions.First things first, these are NOT coaxial two way speakers. They a single driver with a "whizzer" cone (think cheap automotive speakers). Not sure how they get away with saying they have a sealed tweeter when they do not. That being said, the sound quality is good. Not great, not terrible just good. They highs are muddy, flat, and mostly lifeless but the lows are decent If these things had actual tweeters, they would really come to life. Overall they are fine for around the pool since they will be mostly used at low volume to add to the ambiance and the on the occasional outdoor movie night. Perhaps the lack of a tweeter will add to the robustness of the overall design as simpler things are usually longer lived.The overall build and sealing appears to be a good quality and quite robust. Immediately after install, we had quite the downpour which didn't phase the speakers at all. If that is any indication, they should last for a good bit.Would I recommend them? Depends on your audio tastes. If you are an audiophile and expect nothing but the best, no absolutely not. If you want something to play back ground music to help add to the ambiance and not be out place in an outdoor setting, yes these will be fine.

I bought a set of 2 to place around my pool and they sound great. They survived a hurricane, artic blast and snow.

We got these speakers to augment some others we had attached above the pool area and facing it from one side. Those pair of speakers were good but didn’t fill the pool area completely. They are about 8 ft above the pool surface so we lose some quality and loudness when in the pool. In come these speakers. The speakers are placed in the garden around the pool and bring the sound stage to right above the water. This makes them sound loud and powerful when in the pool. They are punchy, but do lose some clarity in the mid and high end. But for outdoor speakers and my use they are great. Kids and laughing and carrying on and loving the tunes they can hear over all of that fun. If doing a full outdoor experience, just pair these with some good woofer/tweeter combo speakers to get a complete package.

These speakers lack a tweeter so the sound is very drab overall. In looking them over I don't see how they would survive outside getting wet. The whole bottom was smeared silicone which looked like someone would do at home.They produce TV quality sound at best but nothing I personally enjoy. The look from above is OK but it's definitely a disappointment in the sound department overall.

Finding speakers rated for outdoor use that kind of blend in with the landscaping is difficult. Many are bluetooth and connectivity is always an issue. These hard wired speakers are easy to install, highly recommend using waterproof connectors to prevent corrosion or shorting. Once installed these have good sound quality and project across the yard nicely. I am impressed with the sound quality given we didn't pay a lot compared to other options. Would definitely recommend
