The Best Knife!
Such an elegant design. It’s slim and sexy and lightweight. It feels like a real quality knife not that cheap stuff. The knife holds up very well and came out of the box razor sharp now that’s what I call a true ready to use knife.

Great knife for the money.
It came razor sharp . Very smooth to open . The frame lock is very strong and it makes for a thin pocket carry . I would recommend it for someone looking for an affordable EDC. The picture shows a Kershaw ,ESEE Ontario, and Cold Steel for size comparison.

Not made in the USA.
It’s not very sharp. All my ESEE knives came extremely sharp. Also, all knives are made in the USA. Why does this one say Taiwan??? Needless to say I’m disappointed.

Pass up this knife
Don't buy, mine shouldn't have pass QC. The frame lock is too strong. I have to use both hands to push it to close. The action is terrible and the blade isn't centered. I should have just brought another Rat model 1.It did come very sharp

You get what you pay for
As soon as I tried to open the knife I knew I wouldn’t be happy. Knife was tight and impossible to open with the thumb stud, had to be opened two handed. The only way to free up the blade was loosen the pivot screw but that throws the blade off center and it rubs. Tightened the screw a bit and back to two handed opening. I wouldn’t buy it again

Excellent product.
Excellent knife for the money. Nicer than knives I paid more money for. Blade centering perfect. Very sharp. It is thin in the pocket. Frame lock and smooth opening.

Sharp, but too light and cheap feeling.
I bought this knife because it had the RAT logo name on it. I'm surprised Randles adventure training would allow their name to be put on something that feels like a low quality knife. I own the ESEE 5 which is the best knife I have ever owned. The quality on the ESEE is amazing. Good, strong, thick steel, linen micarta handles, made in America. The avispa is made in Taiwan by a company that put the RAT logo on this knife. It feels super cheap. I was not expecting the handle to be plastic. It's so light and thin that I feel like it's going to break if I put it through a lot of hard use. On the plus side it came razor sharp out of the box. Sharp enough to shave the hair off my arm. It's light on the pocket so it doesn't weigh me down too much. The desert tan side is the side made of plastic, and the opposite side is made of metal. I just wish they had gone a step further and just made both sides out of the same metal material. The handle, despite its low quality (imo), is ergonomic. It fits quite comfortably in my hand and does have little thumb ridges on the top of the blade ( not much, but enough to give a decent grip of you need to shave or cut something). I gave it 3 stars for its sharpness out of the box and the way it fits in my hand well, but only gave it 3 stars because of how cheap and light it feels.

Great knife, it is thinner than most knifes
Great knife, it is thinner than most knifes. It will take a while to get used to the thumb stud geometry but once you do it's nice. The first thing I did was switch the thumb stud around as one side is longer than the other and I'm right handed and preferred the short side of the stud on my thumb side. It worked so much better and felt better also.
