Crucial music.
This is the second half of the Stanley Brothers complete King/Starday output which takes us right up to their last recordings before Carter's death sent Ralph off to his long solo career. While the King/Starday years weren't as jam-packed with classics as their earlier Columbia and Mercury recordings, with over 100 tracks there is still a wealth of truly great stuff. Even their 'filler' is well-executed and entertaining. Standouts are 'Oh Death' (which was also recorded solo by Ralph for the movie 'O Brother Where Art Thou'), 'Little Birdie', I Don't Want Your Rambling Letters, and, two songs later made famous by Ricky Skaggs, It's All Right if That's the Way You Feel & Don't Cheat in Our Hometown. Along with Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers form the foundation of bluegrass music. At less than $30 this is a jaw-dropping deal.

Marvelous Music for Minimal Money
I wanted to get a Stanley Brothers box set from the minute I read Ralph Stanley's book "Man of Constant Sorrow." I had to find one that wouldn't drain what funds I had. Then I found this package. For the $$, I thought I couldn't go wrong, and I was correct. There's a lot of excellent music by Ralph and Carter here.

Highly recommended for true Bluegrass lovers!
I have been looking for the album or CD of a Stanley Bros. record we sold with our collection in 1983 and it has not been available anywhere. It was strictly instrumental and some of the best we have ever heard. When I saw the 1050's and 1960's that was available here I purchased two of the single CD's and the set with 4 CD's and the booklet. As soon as disc #3 from the set began to play, my husband and I both shouted, "There it is!". Twelve of the selections from disc #3 are the ones we have been looking for for the past 27 years. Needless to say, we couldn't be more pleased. But then, I find myself being continually pleased with what I am able to find on Amazon, usually movies or books from long ago.

Hard to find Stanley Brothers gospel songs
I love the Stanley Brothers, mainly their gospel songs. This collection includes some previously very hard to find songs, including "Campin' in Canaan Land," "Old Country Church," and "A Few More years." In the LP era I looked for these songs for years. So it's good news that all these songs have been collected in this set. Highest recommendation if you love old-time bluegrass. And the price can't be beat. Don't hesitate!

Great music!
You cannot go wrong with the Stanley Brothers! I love everything they did (and Ralph’s work after Carter’s passing in 1966).
