good thing because it is cheap but I took it ...
you can't beat the price, a no name guitar, good thing because it is cheap but I took it apart, changed the fret heights, adjusted the neck and the bridge, lightened up the strings to get the great twang I was looking for, Hey 100 years ago guys were building guitars out of oil cans, cigar boxes, anything they could get their hands on, I am happy with the cheapest guitar in my arsenal, I got what I wanted and with a little tlc it's great

Solid guitar for the price
Okay, let's get something straight right away: for this price, you should NOT be expecting much. Any guitar under $200, let alone a resonator with electronics, is going to be cheaply made. Having said that, on with the review.I just unboxed this guitar about an hour ago. My initial impression of the packaging was good. It was packaged pretty minimally, but there was some foam wrapping around everything and even underneath the strings. My guitar arrived without a scratch on it.This is a nice-looking guitar, and while my frets aren't nearly flat, the neck pretty much is and I don't notice any excessive string buzzing. For any guitar under $400, I usually expect neck problems, and I would consider this problem-free. As far as the frets go, even the $600 guitars that you buy at Guitar Center will not come with properly leveled frets. If you're looking for a perfect neck and flat frets, you need to take whatever guitar you have to a luthier. Almost all guitars are mass produced and will not have level frets. Personally, as long as the problems aren't major, I think that most people are just griping. Most guitars, even with slight neck and fret problems, are still perfectly playable. Regardless, I expected some problems but was happy with what I got, a playable guitar. The size of the body is fairly small. I like this a lot, because I hate big, thick acoustic guitars, even though those big, thick bodies help them sound better. I like the weight, not too heavy, but doesn't feel cheap because it's not extremely light. If I had to guess, it's probably somewhere between 5.5 and 7 lbs. Feels solid. The neck seemed short, but compared to my SG clone, it looks almost exactly the same length. Maybe I just haven't picked up a guitar in a while.Sound is meh. Maybe part of the problem is that it projects a lot out the face of the guitar. So I can't hear it quite as well while I'm playing. I have no idea what kind of strings these are. They make noise. I usually use Elixir strings and frankly can't stand non-coated strings. They bind my fingers up right away, but after a little playing, I'm loosened up. Elixirs seem to sound a bit better, brighter maybe, than these. I'll change them as soon as I get a chance.I plugged the guitar in and immediately noticed some extra resonance, not harmonic, not good at all. That's when I noticed the guitar sounded terrible. Every palm mute I was greeted with the awful sound. The strings vibrate on the tail end of the bridge. So here's a big tip to anyone with this guitar that hears this awful noise: take some of that tissue paper that came on the neck and fold it up into a small rectangle and jam it under the strings where they thread through the stop piece. This will stop the strings from vibrating on that side. It seems to have completely alleviated the problem. The guitar immediately sounds noticeably better! So far, from my experience with it, it's a solid guitar that sounds alright at a very good price. Before I fixed the string resonance, I thought it was worth maybe $99. Now that it's fixed, I'd say it's worth about $175, but with the build quality of a slightly pricier guitar. It seems from the other reviews that maybe quality is variable, so yours might not be as good as mine. But mine as it is is a very solid guitar. I knew I was buying something cheap, something that may need a little work to enjoy, but I'm pleasantly surprised. It looks great and plays well.By the way, the strings seem to be spaced much closer together than any acoustic I've played. I haven't tried too many resonators, and zero recently, so maybe that just comes with the territory, but the spacing reminds me of an electric. Likewise, the neck width is similarly slim. I love electric necks over acoustics for the same reason, although bending (for me, anyway) is harder on such a slim neck when you've got acoustic strings on there. All in all, I'd say if you know what you're buying, then this is a good choice. If you're expecting something more, or if you're looking for a cheap starter, maybe look elsewhere.

Love the guitar
The guitar was not damaged but the box had a big hole in it. Thankfully the seller had packed the guitar really well. We believe it was Fed Ex that damaged the box

Not bad, Not bad at all.
Before I ordered this resonator guitar I read the reviews, to say the least I was hesitant to place my order, now that being said.(Note: This is a $200 Resonator Guitar.)I am a self trained luther and as a hobby I like to "pawn shop" for insturments to "play" with, I enjoy the repair and polish process.I receved the guitar a few days early, the packaging was minimal inside however it was double boxed, there is a scrach on the crome flange, I feel this was done during assembly, over all, not bad.The bridge had no notches to retain the strings and there was some buzzing when played, there was no battery installed for the preamp. With the removal of the strings (the strings that were installed were very heavy and like cables) and tail peace, I removed the flange and found loose screws for the cone, after tighting them up I marked and notched the bridge using a needle file (the noches do not need to be very deep). I also placed two self adhesive felt feet on the flange under the tailpeace to eliminate any rattle or buzz from that area. After reassembly I replaced the strings with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky strings, and put a 9v battery in and tryed it out, the preamp works well, and the insturment sounded better however the strings were still hard on my fingers, I also noticed an intermitant buzz while playing, I relaced the Regular Slinkys with the lighter Super Slinky strings, NO BUZZ and HAPPY FINGERS!!!All and all a rather nice Resonator Guitar, I got the tinny sound I wanted, sounds Amazing with the slide, it maintains the resonator sound when plugged in, I am very happy afrer a little work on it.This Is A New Guitar, it will need to be setup, they ALL do!That being said, in my opinion for the price this is a sweet deal if you will put a little work into it you can have a nice Resonator Guitar at a good price, I love mine scratch and all.I hope this helps, David

Diabolical
Possessed by the devil. It was like the Chinese had calculated and designed every part to be bad, while they look good they will not endure. Looks good, but that's about it. Screws will twist off and break, bridge is too soft and spacing is poor, strings will break, cheap turner have wiggle and rattle in them, it's sound is muddy, electronics didn't work, 9v battery dead and corroded. I had it for 3 hours and returned it. I didn't check the neck for straightness, I was so shocked, but the price was good, glade they took it back.I returned it.

It lacks good quality control inspection.
First fret buzz and the ends of the frets are not polished or snag free.A good sounding instrument for the most part

Not holding up to well.
Originally, just a year ago, I loved this guitar. It played great, sounded great. Every bit as good as the previous Resonator I bought from these folks. Recently, a year later, the guitar has developed a rattle in the steel pan. Tonight the little sound hole ring cone fell off. I'll just glue it back but man, not so sure this is the deal I thought it was.

I was pleasantly surprised. I have a Godin 5th ...
I was pleasantly surprised. I have a Godin 5th Avenue ($599.00 retail) that I use as a knockaround guitar, and this is as clean the Godin...Sure, it's no Gibson, but I'll hang it up on the wall next to mine. Needed some decent strings, but for $150.00 I have no complaints.
