Knives stick out too far as it is small and looks odd

I bought this to replace an almost identical (Danish) and much more expensive knife block. The original one needed replacing as the fibre insert had been damaged over time where the fibres had matted preventing the knives from being inserted properly. Other fibres had fallen out leaving gaps where knives would not hold.It arrived well packaged, no signs of damage, cracks or bad construction. It easily holds 8 knives including a Global G5 vegetable cleaver type knife, a Global GF chefs knife and several others large knives. It holds small knives equally as well. My smallest knife is a Global GSF-15 8cm peeling knife and that sits comfortably in the fibres.Tip:- My mistake with the first knife holder was not taking enough care when putting the knives into the block. I have since found that by slowly inserting the knife spine first and pushing the fibres out of the way as the blade slides downward allows the knife to be inserted deep into the block without cutting into the fibres and causing them to tangle.It’sa good knife block and I recommend it.
