South Shore makes a decent product.
This is a nice large nightstand. It is not solid wood, but rather “engineered” Think IKEA quality. Looks good doesn’t break the bank. I’ve assembled tons of manufactured pieces… this one was not as easy as I had assumed, plus the directions are mediocre. However, once put together it’s a nice heavy unit. BE ADVISED: the top pieces – that slide together- do NOT fit flush BUT it is not a defect. I don’t think they are designed to close tight so that a cord can go down the slot to the power strip. If it really bothers you, buy a little 1/2in foam weatherstripping at a hardware store and cut to fit. Most weatherstripping is a dark gray, and you could easily paint the top edge to blend. The knobs are a little puny; I think this piece would look tons better with nice handles. I covered the top sliding piece with contact paper… Only because I know my son will put drinking glasses on this table (even if a coaster is inches away) and it will warp. (Engineered wood does that). I will also say that the corners are extremely sharp… it would be nice if manufacturers would just soften the edges a little bit on pieces that are lower to the ground and therefore easily bumped into.

Great nightstand!
We have a King-sized bed that is rather tall, and this is one of the few nightstands that I found that are the right height for our bed. I'm so glad we purchased these! My husband wasn't home and I wanted to get these set up, so I put them together by myself (the directions say it requires 2 people, but I just leaned the side board up against the bed when it was time, and that worked just fine). The directions were easy to follow, and everything was included correctly, including the power strip. You only need a hammer and screwdriver. These are sturdy and I love the design with the charging station! I saw some reviews that said they fell apart - I could see that if you are sitting on them, or loading the drawers full of heavy objects - they do have a weight limit, so as long as you follow that and don't act stupid, these are great! :) The only down-side I found was that the power strip cord barely reaches our outlets, but power strips don't usually have an extra-long cord unless you specifically buy one like that. They are beautiful and look great in our room! I would recommend these!

Solid - but had a crack
We have finally assembled one of the two tables I purchased. The assembly took about 3-4 hours - tedious but possible if you follow the directions carefully. Make sure you place the bottom of the top section (for the power bar) in the correct direction. If not, the holes will not line up properly to install the power bar. I was warned from previous reviews, yet still managed to do it wrong.Once we unpacked the many pieces, we found that the one side piece was damaged - see the picture. At this point, it was too late to return since it was fully pulled apart all over the floor. We completed the assembly and will live with the damaged piece. Hopefully the second unit is in better shape. All together? It looks good and is solid and heavy. Decent value for the price.

made in the usa
I was excited to find a product made in the usa. That was the deciding factor in this purchase. I do love the charging station, and the drawer mechanisms are as smooth as butter. However, assembly was a nightmare. I laid out all the pieces according to the diagram, but could not for the life of me make heads or tails of the first step. It required my daughter's input to get us started on the right course. We got to the end and discovered we had put a piece in backwards, but after spending five hours on this thing, we were not about to backtrack. Whew! I enjoy puzzles, but I would have preferred clearer instructions. However, it is lovely, and I am glad I purchased it.

Good idea, cheap materials
For the price I expected much better quality. It is a clever design and functional, but I’m disappointed by the following:- low quality laminated particle board for all pieces (it is possible to have nice and sturdy furniture made from particle board and mdf ... this isn’t it)- the entire contents of the package were convered in particle board pieces and dust that had fallen off the numerous unfinished edges and corners- it is extremely heavy- it is not sturdy. after fully assembled, it’s still wobbly and awkward to lift/move ... and there is a note in the instructions about how you can’t put more than 25 lbs on the top- the top corners are extremely sharp. Even if we didn’t have kids, I wouldn’t want something that sharp near the edge of my bed- lots of the edges of the pieces had dried glue that had squeezed out between the seams of the two finished surfaces- the bottom surfaces are just extremely rough and unfinished particle board that will snag on any carpet and scratch any wood floor ... and continue to shed little pieces of particle board over timeIt seems like something that should have cost $40-50 at Walmart

This is the best bedside table I ever owned
This is the best bedside table I ever owned. The wood is sturdy and shiny. Spacious draws. It looks amazing. Best thing about it is the opening top though. I use a sleep apnea machine well I sleep and it always made my room look messy. So I would have to pack it away during the day and it would be a drag to set up each night just when I would want to go to bed. Now my sleep app is ready to go any given second all I have to do is pull the top open. Everything looks neat because when i am done all i have to do is tuck it in and close the top. I love it.
