This belt is a replacement for a similar ratchet belt that failed after only a couple weeks of use. That belt was advertised as 100% leather like this one, but it turned out to have a a core of a rubbery material covered with a thin layer of leather-look vinyl that quickly split and peeled. I'm counting on this one to be better, since my previous ratchet belt lasted me over two years of daily wear.As far as this belt is concerned, it comes with a really nicely-finished buckle and the belt itself seems to be well-made. The leather surface of the belt has a pebble finish, which I prefer over a shiny finish. The belt is double-stitched and the stitching itself is neat, straight and well-done. The ratchet stops are nice and strong, and they extend from about 2-1/2" from the tip to almost a foot down the belt's length, and give you a full 9" of adjustability.After getting my first ratchet belt as a gift a few years ago, I won't wear anything else. The ease of use and infinite adjustment range can't be beat. With an attractive buckle, this belt goes with anything from suit pants to jeans.

So this review is two-fold, 1st about the product and then 2nd about the seller.The Belt:I purchased this belt because I like how it appears to have a standard belt buckle even though it is a ratchet belt. Everything feels well made, though I have only had it for a week, so time will tell how long it holds it up. What sets this belt apart for most other ratchet belts is the release mechanism. Most will have a little release lever that is located on the top of the belt. This type of lever can get accidentally bumped from time to time, usually when leaning against something. When this happens your belt loosens us and sometimes, it is at an awkward time like a work meeting! This belt, however, requires you to lift the whole buckle to release the ratchet, which I highly doubt will ever happen accidentally. So all things considered, it is a great belt for a great price.The Seller (CHAOREN DESIGN STUDIO):It was a pleasure dealing with this team as they quickly helped resolve my issue. I ordered a belt and ended up not liking the belt buckle color (it looked silver onscreen but was a dark bronze) but the belt color itself was perfect. I then ordered a second belt and when it arrived, I liked the silver buckle, but did not like color of the belt as it was different. So to get what I wanted, I had to take the belt from one order and buckle from another order, and I was hoping to return the other belt & buckle that I din't like. I opened a chat with Amazon and, while they were very friendly and helpful, they said I couldn't mix and match and return for a refund. So then I reached out CHAOREN directly and they confirmed that Amazon could not receive a hybrid return, but since they valued my patronage, they refunded the cost of my second purchase, but let me keep both belts. Fantastic customer service!

And it’s available in different colors. What more do you want? I’d found that my belts, no matter how well made, weren’t lasting as long as they should have due to the stress of the metal prong pulling against and gradually enlarging or tearing the holes in the belt when it is worn tightly. Simply not an issue due to this design. By reducing the daily wear and tear on the belt, it looks much better and will surely last much longer, providing value for money. I bought a black and a brown one. I ordered them in the recommended size for my waistline, and they fit perfectly without any alteration necessary. My hope is that each one will last at least twice as long as the ones I had bought off the rack at retail stores before showing signs of wear. They were also a bit cheaper than the ones I had bought at men’s stores, some of which cost as much as $30 for a comparable product which wears out quicker.

The belt appears as advertised and works fine. I waited a few months before writing this review, and the belt has kept its appearance, with no unusual wear or detoriation. To loosen the belt, you simply lift up on the handle. The belt finds its groves easily and the belt does maintain its desired tightness.My one complaint regarding this belt are the poor assembly instructions. The instructions do not explain how to attach the buckle to the belt. To do so, as per my pictures, you attach the "non-groved" end of the belt to the buckle with the middles section of the assembly "raised"/"open", then after the buckle is inserted over the belt, you flip the middle section of the assembly down"/"closed" so that it secures the buckle to the belt.

Excellent quality and materials. The ratcheting mechanism is sturdy and the buckle looks great (multiple options on buckle style and belt colors). It refines your overall look and fit of a nice suit or dress clothes.

Ratchet belts, where have you been all my life? All those years, I didn't know there was such a thing as a ratchet belt. Ratchet belts have two main advantages over the regular kind. First is ease of use. Easy to put on and easy to adjust when adjustment is required. Second is durability. Regular belts wear out a lot faster, I think from the daily flexing of the buckling and unbuckling action. A bonus: Regular belts abrade and cause wear to the patch of pants in contact with the buckle. This fraying of the pants cloth in contact with the underside of the belt buckle has not happened with my ratchet belts.
