Bounty HunterLone Star Metal Detector for Adults & Kids Features 3 Modes with high Accuracy and an 8” Waterproof Coil, Purpose Treasure Hunting

I caught a few episodes of American Diggers, Diggers and Dig Wars and thought to myself.....I can do that! First I'll need a metal detector and plenty of land to survey and viola! I'm going to be rich! (well maybe not rich.....but comfortable....heck, a few dozen gold and silver coins or some civil war swag, possibly a museum grade historical bedside urn...who knows?) Time to get my inner pirate on search for treasure! (I'll bring my 4 year old son along for support and labor. He's a pretty good digger...) I researched metal detectors for a good few hours wasting precious treasure hunting time. The Bounty Hunter Lone Star Metal Detector is the best in this price range. There are some real junky ones below this price point and as I was soon to find out, there are very high end detectors ($1000+) that are apparently the ones they use of the show. This particular Bounty Hunter is very easy to use. I found a shotgun shell , old soda can, piece of tin roof and a metal slug (which for a hot minute I was convinced it was a pre civil war coin worth $$$$) My buddy borrowed my detector to find loose nails that a contractor dropped around his yard. 2 weeks later I got it back with a dead battery. My friend got the pirate bug and gave up on the nails(which he did find a bunch of) and went in search of treasure. His take? Numerous old hotwheels car, a soda can and a foreign piece of metal which we have narrowed down to either aluminum or of extraterrestrial origin. This thing works........works well........and loses its appeal approximately after 2 or 3 uses. WARNING- If you get this detector you will immediately run to your yard and start searching. Your detector will go off almost instantly....you WILL start digging (if you think you can make nice little holes with a "plug" that fits right back in...well, good luck with that) Your yard will look like a D-Day reenactment ceremony took place and your wife will lose her ever loving mind. At this point it is a good idea to blame the kid. Just make sure when she sees the damage that only your dirt covered child (with shovel in hand) is around to receive the wrath. Immediately after dodging the wife bullet quickly throw a quarter in one of the holes you made and have your child discover it. This will ease the abandonment issue your kid will face when Mom starts yelling and Dad is nowhere to be found...Bottom line, this thing is fun. I don't uses it as much as I thought I would and I haven't graduated to old guy on the beach wearing socks with sandals ....yet....Happy Digging!

This is my wife's first metal detector and it is fabulous. Easy to use, simple to understand and works great for what we do. We are soon to be retired couple that enjoys the outdoors and anything old, or vintage. We also enjoy searching for and discovering those items that have been buried for years and panning for gold and gems. The Bounty Hunter Lone Star is great for finding those long lost treasures and a great beginners and intermediate detector.

This metal detector detects metal. The bad thing for me is I got this as an entry level unit and within a week I was ready for a better quality detector. For someone that isn't sure about the "sport" it maybe ok but for someone that definitely wants to do it id spend a more for more.To high of grass will effect the detector if wet there isn't a depth finder and the range of metal shown on screen is very limited. It does detect it does screen out unwanteds somewhat its good for coins for sure

I purchases this to just get into the hobby of metal detecting a bit, and it was a cheap way in. The detector works great, though it took some fiddling to figure out how to use it to find interesting things. I've only gone around my yard with it a bit, but found several pennies and a few buried matchbox cars out there, so I'm sure it will pick up treasures if you go to a place that has some.

After doing some research online and reading many good reviews on this detector I went ahead and purchased this one.Having never used a metal detector before I thought the instructions were easy to understand and it worked great right out of the box.On first metal detecting hunt I went to an old park near my home and after finding countless pull tabs and bottle caps (was set to "all metal") I set it to "Disc" and adjusted the "disc/notch" knob to the 2 o'clock position it ignored most of the bottle caps and pull tabs and after several hours of searching I ended up with 9 quarters, 4 dimes and 6 pennies. A very good detector for the price, it was easy to use and understand and I would highly suggest this one for any newbie getting into the hobby.

I have used this metal detector for months before reviewing. The best way to get your feet wet and know what you might be digging up is to dig up everything that sets the metal detector off. Steer clear of all metal mode most of the time especially in trashy areas and use all metal to help pinpoint your discriminated object. Set both dials to 50% as suggested in the manual. Use either discriminating mode and you will find absolutely find stuff. Digging up items is the only way that you will know and anticipate what that may be. I found it does extremely well at locating silver, brass and copper coins bullets and steel. The battery life is very good, you'll get a lot of use before you pull out a set of new battery's. I started with a vintage White Coinmaster detector it was so much harder to use and the battery life sucked. These newer models even the cheaper ones such as this put that old thing to pasture. You can spend buckets of money on something better, for the price, I'm extremely happy and I'm not shopping around when this is doing so well.

I did expect to find buried treasure but I was expecting something! It beeps and indicates what range it's in but when you dig there is zero! This happened every time so it is beyond human error. Great toy for my 7 year old he uses it now as a space man prop!

I can't say that I have fully learned to use the Bounty Hunter Lone Star yet, but I sure have found a lot of metal objects in the yard. Basically I can't move two feet in any direction out there without finding something. Our house was built in 1943. The yard is full of stuff. I'm sure I'll find a lot more and better objects as the months roll on and I learn more about how to distinguish between targets of lesser and greater value.

Non e facile capire come funziona, è arrivato con le istruzioni in tedesco 😂 Ma con molta pazienza e prove, quando riesci a capire come funziona e spettacolare, ha un fiuto fenomenale, un piccolo oggetto di metallo lo rileva a 30 cm, di profondità e con le cuffie dura due giorni di lavoro pieni. L'unica pecca e le istruzioni che non sono in italiano, ho fatto buoni ritrovamenti, un consiglio a tutti, usate le cuffie così non fate rumore e le pile durano due giorni.Aggiornamento 01,07,18Fenomenale oramai lo uso da molto tempo e un prodotto fantastico ho trovato molti reperti antichi il massimo lo da con pile Duracell caricate al massimo. Un consiglio leggete molto sui luoghi di ricerca così andate a colpo sicuro.

Ok ich Konnte das Gerät in einer "Tiefpreis Phase" kaufen, aber auch für knapp 200€ ist es noch ein guter Deal.Es zeigt die Metalle richtig und sauber an, und die Suchtiefe ist auch gut.Ich habe einen Vergleich mit einem 800€ Detector gemacht und der Bounty Hunter schneidet dabei immer noch gut ab.Die hier verwendete Suchspule wird von Bounty Hunter auch in einiges teureren Modellen verwendet.Alle die meinen es piept überall, geht raus in die Natur, im Haus ist viel zu viel Metall und Elektrosmog die einen sinnvollen Einsatz nahezu verunmöglichen. Das ist aber auch bei allen anderen Detectoren so.

I've owned it about a week. This is the first detector I've owned. Found the gold bar from a necklace that was lost 10 years ago. Took a little time to understand the settings but once you figure them out it's easy. I wish the screen was easier to see the needle hopping around in the bright sun. that's the only con i could think of. Very light and easy to carry for a long time.

Volevo rimandarlo indietro dato che mi sembrava inutilizzabile, oggi invece ho cominciato a capire come funziona. In modalità all metal è estremamente sensibile, quindi trova letteralmente ogni oggetto metallico (a quel punto torna molto utile l'indicatore con il tipo di metallo trovato). Il problema è la modalità discriminazione che invece dovrebbe farlo suonare solo con i metalli più pregiati. Tendenzialmente funziona, però con una discreta quantità di falsi positivi; la soluzione è scavare solo segnali ripetibili (per dire un chiodo a una certa distanza viene percepito come metallo pregiato, poi però ci si avvicina e il segnale scompare).Forse è un po troppo macchinoso per un bambino cmq, li mi orienterei su motelli più "classici" come il tracker iv della stessa marca.

The single thing that I did detect with this "tool' was a big metal sheet that was 8" underground. Despite changing batteries (new or slightly used) the detector beeps at random intervals, even when is pointed to the sky, at random intervals, at any selected sensitivity.I am very disepointed.
