Handgrip for PS VITA 1000 series

The PS Vita is a great system, but not well-designed for people with large hands. I've tried various grips and most become uncomfortable after 15 minutes of play. Some grips even even allow for the rear touchpad to be bumped/brushed too easily. This grip, however, fixes those problems for me. Its a great material, and easy and comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. The grip is easy to install and remove - It features a small switch which locks it in place at the bottom - which is nice, as the shell covers the game slot AND the charging port. The headphone plug is accessible with the grip on, but you will have to pop the grip off to charge or change the game (which means no using this grip WHILE charging). That being said, I still highly recommend this one for people who are concerned with comfort.Pros: Lightweight, Comfortable, SturdyCons: The grip covers both the charging port, and the game slot.

The handles are so much more comfortable and extend your play time because your hanss dont get tired.

I first bought the official PDP handgrips licensed by Sony. Although those grips was pretty comfortable, the fake buttons on top scratched the vitas buttons. The inside of the grip was also plastic: so plastic rubbing against plastic will scratch the unit. Another thing was you had to kinda force the grip in place for it to hold. I took a gamble with these grips, and oh my god, these grips are WAY better than the official ones. They feel so natural to hold. There's a lock/unlock switch under it that moves the bottom lip up and down. Just unlock it, slide the lip down, place your vita in with absolutely no force, move the lip up, then lock. Your vita is now ready. On top of it all, the entire grip, inside and out, is made of soft silicone. So no scratches with happen to the vita.So why am I giving it 4 stars? Well the box says "doesn't block any ports or buttons." This isn't true. The lip on the bottom that locks and unlocks completely blocks the charging port, and the top part blocks the vita cartridge slot. If you want to charge your vita, or change a cartridge game, you need to remove the grips. This can become annoying if you play the handheld as much as I do. Other than that, if this doesn't bother you, I highly recommend these grips. They just feel too amazing in my hands to let that little downfall ruin the overall quality of this product. And yes, these grips do not feel cheaply made, only the box does. Also, these are for the original PS Vita 1000 model, not the slim 2000 model.

Vita 1000 series locks in and stays in. Perfect size hand grips for large hands. Console Pops in and out quickly for easy transition. Cheap and effective. Feels like holding a dual shock. Exactly what I needed.

The grip itself is comfortable and I find it worth the money. My only issue is that the description says "black/red" and the one I recieved was black/blue. Even the box it came in says black/red. It's really disappointing because it was supposed to match my system. I'd return it and get a new one but it says "item unavailable" now, so I'm just gonna deal with it.

This grip has been far better then what I expected, and I wanted a lot. It's got a smooth satin finish, almost rubber like, the vita fits in your hand just perfect and even has different contours on the back so you can hold it different ways, whether for using the analog or d-pad. Talk about re vitalization, holding the unit by itself seems like a crazy idea now. The charge port does get blocked by the locking mechanism(which works well) so that is one coveat to those wondering about that. All the other ports are accessible though, even the mysterious video out port. This is for the first generation vita 1000 and 1001 wifi/3g. Also the picture is deceiving, I think they shot it with a wide angle because it is not curved out like that, it's actually straight like all the other lookalikes out there. *edited* the top ports are blocked, so you have to take it off if you want to swap games but the volume and power buttons are accessible

I liked that it felt good in the hand.

This makes the Vita playable for me! The locking mechanism seems cheap and covers the charge port :/ hopefully this will last because it fits pretty well in my hands.
