Horrible rod for repairing cast iron.
You know what they say "if it seems too good to be true...." Well folks, these rods are definitely not for repairing cast iron, or at least not for repairing cast iron exhaust manifolds and probably anything that is more complex than a few intersecting planes. These rods are true to their claim, "nickel free", yep these are some sort of ductile iron rod and just as fragile as the cast iron they are meant to repair. I'm not a professional welder but after grinding out the cracks, drilling the roots out, heating the manifold to apx. 500F and peening the hell out of the red hot weld, the cracks reformed several minutes after cooling. Got zero out of two welds to hold (one took about an hour to pop, heard it from inside).....thus the two star review. Do your self a favor and spend the extra money on nickel rods designed to do the job right.
