It's very accurate and easy to use.
We do go up poles on hoists and this does help us out, very basic to use, can't go wrong. Well built, good quality, I'm pleased with the purchase.

I received this item and looks as described.However, I thought I would go through the various functions and settings and tried to switch on the machine.The display would come on for a second and go off. Took the battery out and found that it had expired 11/2022 Nov 22.Bought a new battery and it's working fine.I want to use it for wind speed before consifering installing a Wind Turbine power generator.

Great anemometer, accurate + well spec'd
Great bit of kit, simple to use. Instructions a bit clunky in places (poor translation) but clear enough to allow you to operate it. The 846 is the same as the 856 model but without the microUSB out connector to link it to a PC. This doesn't bother be, but don't get caught out. It's not just a case of not shipping with software bundled.Using to measure PC fan outputs and it is responding well.The vane handle has a screw thread for tripod/arm mounting as well as the main yellow body. This wasn't advertised but is very useful.The amount it telescopes is quite limited, just a few inches of reach, but any is better than none.Getting the battery cover off was a bit of a mission. Something didn't want to give, but once encouraged with a mini screwdriver out of a christmas cracker it's been fine since.There is a rubber seal that is incomplete in mine too so not water resistant, but then the wider unit doesn't claim to be anyway so I'm not too fussed about that, and I'm using it indoors anyway.The thing is sensitive and offers a good range of measurements. Read out is clear. Build quality is good, comes with a case and battery etc. All good. Happy with the purchase, and for my usage I'm glad I saved the money over the more expensive 856 version.
