Really decent value for money
Our previous Brita filter jug finally broke the other day after a few years of loyal use so the time finally came to start looking for another.I had a look at the usual suspects and whilst doing so came across this Philips filter jug. A little apprehensive and unsure, I decided to go ahead and order based solely on looks, and I'm very glad I didIt looks really nice, feels solid and very well balanced especially when filled with water. When you pour with the jug just filled, water does not trickle out of the upper chamber because of the design, which we used to get a lot with our older jug.It is easy to clean and I like how the filter empties water directly into the collection chamber at the bottom. The filter works well and filters water fairly quickly. It is also fully compatible with the Maxtra and Maxtra+ range of filters. I like how the countdown timer at the top tells you how many days are left exactly from when it is reset.Overall it is very good for the price I paid and I would fully recommend.

Life saver! (Well...tea saver!)
Our water has been tasting horrible for last few weeks. Cups of tea tasting awful, and I love my cuppas! Normally would drink tap water, but it tasted disgusting. Even rang Yorkshire water to find out what it could be. They sent someone out to test, and the engineer said that its safe to drink, but Yorkshire Water have actually changed the water supply in our area due drought and penine water is in very low supply. We now have hard water, which explains the scum on top of tea and rank tasting water....suppose its what you're used to. So, have been buying bottled water, but our normal supply probably won't be back for a while so decided on a filter jug. This has been great! Have missed a good cup of tea for weeks, so had about 3 in a row after getting this! Also, the water on its own tastes of nothing! Its lovely to drink. Harmony has been restored. Can't believe how good it is.Its so cheap aswell compared to the other brands. Seems to work just as well. It has a day timer on the lid so know when it is due for a new filter, which also seem to be good value.

A solid product if you stick with Philips cartridges
I have used filter jugs and cartridges from a number of different manufacturers over the years and all have their pluses and minuses. I already had a Brita jug, one of the XL sized ones, and wanted a smaller, lighter one. With Brita stuff being so expensive this Philips jug seemed like a good prospect and it looked stylish to my eyes. Out of the box it had a quality feel to it. Since I had a number of fresh Brita Maxtra+ cartridges I decided to test the jug's compatibility with them. Initially it seemed like the aperture would be the right size and shape with the cartridge needing some pressing down to get it properly into place. However as soon as I tried filtering water through it I discovered that there was a gap at the side where water was leaking straight into the collecting chamber rather than through the top of the filter. No matter what I tried I couldn't line up the cartridge in such a way that prevented this. By contrast, the Philips cartridge included in the box wasn't a problem at all. These have a rubber seal around the edge and as a result I never saw any leaks with it. My overall impression then is this is a decent filtering jug if you are happy to buy only Philips' own brand of filters.

Takes the hassle out of constantly refilling the jug.
Really glad I finally got this bigger jug as I needed to refill my old smaller one multiple times a day.Really nice, feels sturdy and fairly robust.Don't really have a way of testing the efficacy of the filter but seems to be working. If you have a family and need a new water filter jug than I highly recommend getting this larger one. I have the green one and it is actually quite nice to look at, so much so we are getting another for our business.Like all water filter jugs you still have to remember ( ie take notice of the little readout on the lid) to replace the filter regularly!

Terrific filter found
Easy to use and should be workable but I did not test the water quality at the end. Taste seems good after filtering. Just one point about the lid as you have to wait for all water being filtered before use. If not, the unfiltered water will flow out together with the filtered one and it is awful.

Best filter I’ve owned
Had a Brita for a few years. This is far better built and feels more premium. It filters really well and tastes like bottled mineral water after putting it through. Filters reasonably quickly and large capacity.Wouldn’t get brita again. We bought the pack of additional philips filters but I’m sure there will be alternatives out there. I just found these worked well the first time. The timer counts down the days when you replace the filter. I would buy again.

Great taste, easy to clean and fast filtering
It is very easy to clean, the filters are not restricted because of the open bottom design which improves the filtering speed a lot.The filtering cartridge filters micro-plastics as well and the resulted water was the best tasting one without any residual filter bitter aftertaste like others.I wished i would have bought this sooner after going through so many other brands and not so great product experiences.

Does what it say on the tin
Simple to use. Not sure why people complain about not fitting in fridge as mine is not big and fits in door easy
