I did NOT want to buy a new machine, but my 40 year old Singer bit the dust. I read reviews and was so reluctant to purchase based on some of the negative ones. But I needed a machine! I've been sewing clothing, curtains, quilts, etc. for 50 years but I'm not a professional seamstress, so I didn't want a machine with lots of bells and whistles - I wanted my old machine back! This one is all that and more. When I first started to use it I had to check that it was actually sewing because there were no "clunking" sounds! My aging eyes appreciated the needle threader - very convenient. The buttonhole process was different for me but once I figured it out, it was super easy - much better than the process with my old machine. Everything about it is smooth and easy so far. Just love it! Don't be afraid - it's a good basic machine.

I bought this machine for my 9-year-old granddaughter, particularly because of the bobbin feature with the thread guide. This machine is just so easy to use, she set it up all by herself and made a tote bag and it just so happened that she was able to use it the next day for a school field trip. She was very happy and so was I.

My daughter was 9 when she started using it. She took classes last winter and this was a birthday gift from her grandmother, who sews too. This machine is a lot faster than the one she learned on at the class. So if its for a beginner, note its fast LOL. But she enjoys using it and makes lots of things from the patterns I buy online.

I'm a newbie to sewing, so I can't add to the wealth of reviews offered by experienced sewing enthusiasts -that really helped me choose this machine, thank you very much - but I can give kudos to the seller and shipper which was Blink Art supplies in both instances. You see, my husband and I recently moved from Florida to Costa Rica, so it's always a little nerve-wracking wondering if an item we order will arrive and in what condition. Especially given the cost of the machine, I was biting my nails in anticipation and simply hoping for the best.Thrilled to report, first of all it was thoroughly encased in hard styrofoam by Singer in the Singer sewing box and then beyond that was thoroughly wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap in a much larger box by Blink Art supplies. So, believing it's important to give credit where credit is due, I wanted to tip my hat to both Singer and Blink Art supplies. The machine itself arrived in perfect shape, appears quite solid and pleasantly heavier than I expected (how often does a woman get to say that ;) Nothing flimsy about this machine.Hope this information is useful to anyone buying from this particular seller from a foreign country no less the United States. It's one of the reason I always read reviews of third party sellers. This one did a fantastic job. Now, to just get sewing....Yay!!!

I am not an expert seamstress by any means and needed to replace my sewing machine. I have always owned a Singer machine and was happy to find this one at such a good price.It is easy to use and sews like a dream.
