Love this cabinet
I love this cabinet. My husband and I are movie buffs and have collected a large amount of dvds over the years. They were scattered across our living room on 4 different book cases. I’ve been looking for awhile for a nice cabinet that can store all these antiques. This cabinet held the largest number of dvds that I could find. It’s hard to put together. The instructions are easy to follow but there’s a lot of them. It will take awhile because it is literally a book of instructions. It is very sturdy, especially once the dvds are inside. Make sure the cabinet is placed where you want because once it’s filled you will not be able to move it. I thought one door was wonky but it turned out one pesky dvd was an odd size preventing the door from shutting properly. Although it doesn’t fit all our dvds it fits almost all of them. Our living room looks more organized and less cluttered. I love this cabinet and highly recommend it.

Great idea, poor execution.
Ok. Let’s start with the positives. Most importantly, I have a place for ALLLLLL of my movies! Next, it’s actually a pretty piece. The walnut color is just a hair more cool toned than I’d want, but obviously not worth the trouble of trying to return. Now for the negatives. Already. 1: Assembly was an absolute nightmare. My dad put it together for me himself, because I tend to mess these things up. It took him a total of between 4-6 hours, working on it for a few hours at a time on 2 separate days. 2: This is a random one, but it stinks. I don’t know why, but hopefully, it’ll go away soon. 3: The shelves that hold the movies on the doors are plastic & it tells you to glue them together, which never works, so I don’t know what they were thinking with that. They didn’t hold, of course & turned the black plastic white, but it’s more for keeping the width the same as opposed to actually holding them onto the door, if that makes sense. 4: Getting movies out can be tricky & you can’t leave too much space to get them out easily, because they’ll lean over, causing the doors not to close. Just trading one inconvenience for another basically.. 5: I also have a majority of dvds & the doors BARELY close. Just another 2 centimeters & it would’ve been fine, but that’s definitely a mark against it, since it’s advertised for both. 6: The little wires for each shelf to hold the movies in are annoying & I might just remove them altogether. 7: The drawers do not have anything stopping them from coming all the way out, which is a huge negative for me, so you have to be extra cautious with them. Even just a small little wood square above them, so you’d have to angle them to get the drawers out would’ve been great. The fronts are also not quite tall enough, so you can see just a little bit of the movies when looking at the unit straight on. 8: I really don’t like the hardware either. Just switching them to silver, or gold would be much better, in my opinion. Thankfully, they’re all screwed in & not glued, which I was concerned about, so at least I can change them. 9: Last, but not least, the drawer furthest to the right is really really tight. It’s the exact same size as the other drawers. I even took them all out & tried them in that spot & they were all really tight, so a slight manufacturing error there.. My dad said the instructions didn’t even clarify at certain points that certain things needed to be done, which slowed the process even more. He also said he would 100% NOT recommend this product unless someone just really wants to build something super complicated :P Overall, I’m glad that all of my movies are in one spot & in something pretty, but it’s not quite worth the money/trouble. It’s a shame, because the idea is so great. I don’t have high hopes for durability in the long run though. It could be great with a bit more work on the manufacturer’s end.

Roomy and looks nice
Bought this to replace two separate DVD/Video cabinets (both are which were falling apart) as well as a CD rack. We wanted something that could fit everything in one place and be able to fit it under a window in our living room. This fit the bill nicely. I was able to get all our CDs and DVDs/VHS tapes in this thing (we have kids so lots of DVDs to include Disney VHS tapes). I don't know how many we have but bottom line is it's pretty roomy. It also looks nice with our other furniture. There is a similar item with a lid on top that opens Top Load Media Cabinet - Cherry, but we opted for this one with the drawers, again due to the window. Plus we could theoretically put something on top if we desired (like a TV). See my comments about the drawers if you're torn. Maybe you'll want to opt for the lift-top model, if all else is equal.Like a lot of DIY furniture, assembly was time consuming. I spent the better part of a day getting it all together. I took my time because I'm prone to screw up steps during assembly. The directions were fairly clear as were the diagrams. No major screw-ups on my part which must be a first! Some CONS: This is a composite particle board product (as most stuff is these days). It still feels solid but it's NOT solid wood. We've already had one of the drawers break. The drawers are put together with glue and a tongue-in-groove attachment. Wood glue supposedly keeps it all together. I stuffed the drawers pretty full so it's partially my fault, but beware. NOTE: Have plenty of clamps (there are 5 drawers) ready or you'll have to wait for one drawer to sufficiently dry before you can glue the next one together. The racks in the doors are glued on shelving with metal retaining clips that can be sized according to CD or DVD storage. You can also size the interior shelves if you own a LOT of those Disney VHS cases (we own about a dozen and had plenty of room without having to adjust the shelves). I had trouble closing one of the doors due to the DVDs bumping up against things inside. A little shuffling around cured this issue. If you're like me, you own a variety of DVD packaging sizes (multi-disc sets, etc) that don't configure to traditional DVD case size. We're hoping this one stands up a little better/longer than the previous ones. The fact that I already have to fix a drawer is worrisome. I've only had it together about a week and a half. It was delivered undamaged in one HEAVY box. Required a screwdriver, hammer (it's got one of those nail on back boards), and wood clamps. They provide the wood glue and super glue (for the door shelves) though I put on extra super glue as a precaution. One popped off but re-glued it and so far, so good.

Not sure I would purchase again
Product material could be better. Some screws went through the particle board and it wasn't over tightened. Gluing drawers were a challenge. Door shelves need to be better made more stable. Final product looks good and so far has held up. Not sure it's worth over $300 paid.

As described
Heavy material so it's sturdy enough to hold a large TV, although the TV is wider than the cabinet is. You will still need to anchor the TV to the wall. The legs of our TV were spaced farther than 12" front to back so we had to lay a piece of wood on top for them to stand on. Holds all my dvd's, but I'm real close to filling it up. The drawers require careful handling as they want to stick when pulling them out or pushing them in due to the weight of the dvd's in them. Looks nice in the living room.
