Impressivly sturdy design, yet very affordable.
I bought this to pick up fallen branches while riding my lawn tractor. I was pleasantly surprised at the unboxing, and even more impressed once I put it to use. It is long, and the shape of the jaws work great on small logs & big sticks. It figures as snakes are round too, but I just didn't realize it would really work so well for cleaning up my yard while on my lawn tractor. This product is great!! I don't have many snakes, but I am absolutely sure it will work great for snakes too. It is nice & long enough to keep the fangs far away. If it handles snakes as well as sticks, no snake has a chance!! I highly recommend this product.

Great Product
Let's start with I hate snakes. I mean, I really hate snakes. So, why would I want a snake handler if I detest the creatures so much? Easy, I live on a swamp and the slithering creatures are constantly an issue. And, with two dogs, I don't want them getting into a scrap with a snake. Thankfully, the snakes I have around my property (and in my basement and sometimes attic) are non-poisonous. However, occasionally I need to remove one when I see it before my dogs decide to see what it is. I don't want them to get bitten or for them to kill the snake (they do have their purpose in the ecosystem).I recently used the snake tongs for the first time. I walked outside and found a four-foot snake just sunbathing. Thankfully, the dogs went the other direction, so I grabbed my snake tongs and proceeded to kindly request the slithering fiend to leave my yard. The snake did strike at the pole, but I was able to firmly grip the sucker and help it out of my yard. The snake coiled around the pole (nowhere near me), which did make helping him out of my yard and onto a stack of rocks very easy. I gently lifted the snake over the fence and placed him down on the rocks. When I released the snake, the snake quickly slithered into the rocks out of sight. I haven't seen that snake again. So, my first attempt at using these tongs proved very successful. I really liked how I was able to handle the snake from a distance. Again, I don't like them. I don't like them at all. However, I have come to realize that they are part of life living in nature. Now, if I could just find a way to get them to stay out of my house. Sigh...

Great Price, Great Product
Had to use it the other day for a Rattle snake that thought it could live in my front courtyard. Grabbed it perfectly so I could relocate it to the anthill.

Better than getting bit!
To be honest, I thought it was too short. Dealing with rattlesnakes, I'd prefer a 10' pole! But it works great. I think it auto ratchets and stays locked closed, but I'll never trust that feature. Comes with a spare cable which is nice.

Works well
Try to drop snakes in a hole or stand at a higher level than the snake when releasing it. They can move 6ft very quickly
