A gift of a book for an Osprey fan
I bought this book as a gift for a friend who has been following Osprey nesting cams in the UK and USA throughout lockdown. My friend reports he thoroughly enjoyed the book as it provided a wonderful insight into this charismatic bird and balanced well the depth of scientific information discussed so as to engage the novice and the more technically minded bird-brain.He is now also looking forward to his first encounter with an Osprey in the wild - which will hopefully be achieved this coming spring or autumn migration.(and Iām looking forward to him lending me the book).

All about Ospreys - an exciting account of the Osprey revival
This second book of Poole's is a beauty , written 30 years after the first, and it's a great positive story - desirable for both a novice osprey devotee like myself as well as the seasoned birder. Dr. Poole knows ospreys! His story is personal. It's been a heroic journey to see this magnificent bird pulled back from theedge of extinction by the efforts of many world-wide environmentalists, including those who have lobbied against pesticides like DDT, resulting in the healthy restoration of the osprey population. Poole reveals many facets of this admirable fish-eating bird. Its mating habits - the teamwork of two birds in the building of great nests to rear their progeny, who must adapt to changes in the landscape at times, from pastoral to industrial. In addition, there are many eye-popping photographs in this book, as well as excellent writing. A great book for anyone who loves birds.

Osprey - one of the best books & authors
Alan Poole is an expert on Osprey, a bird I watch & tweet about. This book is much more readable than his first book (the "bible" on Ospreys), but both are very worthy reading!

Excellent book for osprey fans
As I had the original Alan Poole book on ospreys I was fairly sure that I would like this one. It is not as scientific as his first book but is full of useful facts about these wonderful birds.
