These are forever knives, great quality

We are quite serious about our cooking at home--we cook a LOT of Korean food which means a ton of chopping and thin-cutting of meat and vegetables--but full disclosure in that we are not professional chefs. So I debated for awhile whether or not we should invest in high quality knives but now I can say I'm extremely happy with this purchase--its made my own cooking at home more fun, easier, and we're actually able to do more with these knives. (I'll leave the same review for the other 3-piece set we purchased since its general enough to cover both)One of things you should know before the purchase is that these are single blade knives. In case some are not familiar with this, I'll put it briefly: most regular knives are double bladed which means the right and left side of knife are sharpened. With Kamikoto knives only right side got sharpened. This means that you have more control of the cut and can perform better for more sophisticated cuts. For example, sushi, so considering that I cook Asian cuisine more often, this takes me to another level of cooking. With these knives, I can actually make my own sashimi at home and also cut veggies more thinly so it opens up more possibilities for us. This can take a little getting used to, however. But once you know the techniques, EVERYTHING becomes easier.Also, when I held the Kamikoto knives for the first time, I was thinking that they weigh in my hand really well. Bigger knives weighed lighter than I expected and the smaller one was heavier than I expected. The grips are good too. Not too sticky, and also with wet hands I can grip them well.Especially I am a big fan of the vegetable knife (others are great too, of course). To me, it's a perfect size. Since it has a single blade, the vegetables doesn't stick to the back much.I'd better wrap up here otherwise I can write it on and on. If you are a serious home cook or want to explore more serious techniques that can make your life and cuisine easier, I would definitely recommend these knives. That's why we put it as a full 5-star--even though we're quite picky, we couldn't find anything wrong with these.

I absolutely love the Kamikoto Santoku Chef Knife I purchased. I originally sought the Kamikoto collection for my favorite chef on the planet, my mother. Their elegance and precision are incomparable. She immediately fell in love with them and hers now have proper names and have been worked into her will and added to the holiday gift list. Haha! The first thing they wanted was a sharpening block. I happily obliged and indulged them with one of yours and now as I have some of my own to use, mom insists I bring mine for a visit so I can learn how to properly sharpen them. This specific knife got to play quite an important role in my holiday weekend, as it beautifully enabled the most delectable meals my loved ones enjoyed. The wooden cases they come in are even works of art in and of themselves. These knives make me look forward to many great recipes in my kitchen for years to come.

I bought this knife and love it. I am very happy with the craftsmanship, the ergonomic feel and the cutting quality of the knife. The packaging was very nice as well as it came packaged in a wooden box I can re-use for other applications. It is now the nicest knife I own. I read a critical review that said it wasn't worth the money, but I could not disagree more. I expect to get plenty of value over the upcoming years from my new kitchen toy.

I received this in 2 days with prime, and it arrived in perfect shape.This is a marvelous Chefs knife! I find it well balanced, and very sharp.It does require some knowledge on how to sharpen the one-sided bevel on the blade, but once you learn it's easy to maintain a razor sharp edge! I also really appreciate the wood box it comes in.The slight curve of the blade also makes it ideal to "rock" when finely chopping herbs. Very Pleased.

My wife, who had been a profession chef most of her life, loved the gift and swears by it. Excellent chef knife.
