The media could not be loaded. My old train set - New Bright G Gauge was just too big. So out it went to a new home and in came this little train.I was considering dropping more money for a HO or O scale starter set from Bacchmann, Lionel or Hornby but couldn’t pull the trigger to spend the money (yet).Other less expensive options were either large in scale or cheaply made.This is a simple but well made train set. I only set up a portion of the track for our holiday display but was thrilled to see how much track it came with. I also appreciate the ease of putting the track together - no snapping pieces together like my old New Bright set. There are small pieces when putting the track together so if purchasing for a child be mindful.It came with 4 cars: Engine, Coal (holds batteries), long passenger car, and freight car. The actual train cars are heavy and appear to be made of some alloy. The wheels appear plastic but well made. I’ve had the set running with no detailing. The set comes with a tool to help set the cars on the track - but I found it difficult using on my circular track and much easier to place manually. However, I can see how it would be useful if using on a straight portion of track.I wasn’t interested in the cardboard scenery but it’s well made and if weighted correctly could be a nice addition for a child playing. But the little station and tree are cute and have been added to the display.This is a small set. The height of the cars are about 2inches and the wheels appear to be O gauge which is great! If I ever upgrade I can still use some of these cars.The smoke stack works easily but the stopper for the reservoir can be tough to use - imagine more so if you have large fingers. The sound isn’t too loud just enough to add some ambience - but this does not have a silent mode (parents beware!)Overall very pleased with this set! I recommend for someone looking for a simple way to liven up a holiday display or as an entry level train set for a young train enthusiast (5+ in my opinion due to the scale, small pieces, and some of the parts that might require a more delicate touch in order to make it last).

The media could not be loaded. So, I was super disappointed at first because we could not get the train to move. It made sound and did the steam, but no movement. I quickly got a delivery of brand new AA batteries from Amazon and the train got going great! You have to have new batteries, don’t try to run it with old batteries.And super nicely made, metal base that makes this way better than the plastic ones being sold all over. It does not have a control, just an on and off button, but for the cost that is what you will get since the trains that are this quality with a remote are super expensive. Stays on the track great, but make sure if you have it criss crossing tracks that you move the tracks with the switch to the correct direction or else it will derail.Steam and sounds are amazing and just make it more fun.The cardboard accessories for people are well made, but fall over, but we didn’t want to use those anyways.Train depot is cute!And we love the little tool for the kids to get the wheels straight to put the train on the track. My 6 year old can line everything up and get it going.

We are really impressed with the quality of this train set. We bought it to have at our house for our grandson when he comes over. Excellent function ! We will have many future years worth of fun with future grandchildren too !

Overall I’m impressed with this train. I deducted a star due to the tracks and the split switches. I found if you flip a split switch to change the direction of the train (to cross the X in the middle or to send it to the outer loop), you have to switch all the switches or the train derails. Maybe this is normal with train tracks, but it’s annoying. This was purchased for my 3 year old daughter. I’m always putting this back in the tracks for her. She loves the smoke and sounds. I would still recommend purchasing

The train and tracks themselves seem very durable and well built compared to others we have had in the past. I like that the tracks aren't just straight plastic... they have a little flex in them which to me makes them more durable. We stepped on them and they didn't break and they didn't break on assembly either.The train is fairly heavy like the weight you'd think a real train this size might weigh.My son absolutely LOVED this. He played with it every minute he could since Santa brought it. He played so much we thought he wore out the batteries because one day it wouldn't turn on. So we replaced the batteries... Nope it still didn't work. it literally stopped working within 5 days of him getting it. He is 4 1/2 years old and used it exactly like he was supposed to. Something where the middle car plugs in to the front car wasn't making a connection or the on/off switch on the top stopping working. One way or the other.If you are wanting to buy what you think is a nicer train for a child THIS IS NOT IT apparently. My son was gentle and watched it go around and around on the tracks.. he didn't rough house with it at all and it STILL BROKE! WASTE OF MONEY in my opinion.

Fantastic product. High quality. Performs as advertised. Easy to assemble. Sounds are very realistic and adds to the enjoyment. Train is programmed for a delayed start with steam gaining pressure, starts off slow and speeds up realistically. Fun. Wheel trucks and couplings sufficiently flexible so they don't break with child use. My 3 year old grandson and my wife love this train. Smoke takes a few minutes to work but then produces a really cool effect. Very durable compared to other designs. Engine and cars are quite realistic. Package really deserves a big 5!

This track is fairly tough to assemble, but fun in the beginning. The wheel of the powered train came off and no way to keep it on now. So won't stay on track. Disappointing. The steam doesn't work since the water just comes out of the bottom of the train.
