Impressive Truck!
Out of the box, everything worked perfectly! I suggest adding “Grip-it” Rubber thumb pads to the remote sticks….it really helps the feel and moving the sticks so much easier! I don’t see Amazon carries them, but can be found on eBay.I read some complaints about the truck going too fast with no slow speed. I assure you, the truck has full proportional throttle and steering! The catch is a light precision touch on the sticks! With just a small nudge on the throttle stick, the truck moves at a fantastically slow crawl! With some practice and a light touch, you can get any speed you want! The only thing I don’t like are those included Li-Ion batteries. I substituted 7.4v 1500 Mah Lipos which can be charged fully in 20 minutes instead of 3 hours. Lipos are more stable and safer anyway.Overall, a fantastic truck that really hauls! It even has a built in trailer hitch mount which I will use for my Bruder trailer and Huina excavator. All in all very happy with the purchase! I’m so glad I chose it over the Huina dump truck which has shown to get stuck on the smallest pebbles in every video I saw.

You're rolling the dice with this one
I've been wanting and needing a decent 1/16 scale dump truck and I can't seem to find one reasonably priced so I took a chance on this one regardless of the mixed reviews, I received it yesterday and it went back to the UPS drop off store today it was a decent truck it looked nice and everything the tires are a lot harder than I felt needed to be only one axle is pulling so it gets stuck very easily it had digital proportional steering but All or nothing forward in reverse and that is the last thing you want with a dump truck trying to get it somewhere to load it and unload it wide open or nothing when you hit the throttle at first I thought about an exchange then I thought about the reviews and thought I'm just better off sending it back and not taking a chance so like I said you're rolling the dice on this one some saying the reviews that they get a good one and some say the same problem as mine or worse

Wow, it’s beautiful
If you are into RC construction equipment you need this. I have had both of the Huina dump trucks, the 1572 and the upgraded 1582. The 1582 is better but not even close to this Western Star. It is very well detailed, runs great and has better controls. It’s faster and more powerful. The sound also is more realistic. Yeah, it’s not cheap, but neither is the 1582 and this is simply a better machine. Highly recommended.

Awsome looking dump truck it needs a little help.
The details are awesome! However! The throttle and steering response is terrible. Diecast Masters should have sold these trucks with a hobby grade controller with a steering wheel and not the joystick type controller. But there is a solution to the problem. Remove the cab to access the steering servo and circuit board. Remove it and throw it away. Go to your local Hobby-Town or Hobby store and buy a Hobby grade controller, receiver, ecm, and a new steering servo, that's exactly what I did and believe me it's worth it. Now I have an awsome dump truck that I can enjoy.

Dump TrucKin.
For what it cost it works good. On a big smooth surface. It will haul a full load of dirt and dump it. It does not do well in lose and Rocky dirt. And the control is not that great. But like I said For what it cost it’s a good lil dump truck.

Sterring is terrible
Looks great but doesn't steer well at all. Very cheap steering servo. It would also be nice if all 4 wheels were driving in the rear instead of just 2. It get's stuck a lot because of lack of traction.
