This is a molecular model kit. I like it because I got a lot of pieces, 240 total. Of course, I didn’t count them all, but I figured they’re all there. There is nothing wrong with these pieces of you’re using them to better understand chemistry and/or organic chemistry.However, this product gets 4/5 stars because of the lid and container it comes with. The container is too small, so if you have to quickly pack up, you’re going to be in for a rough time because the pieces have to allow the top of the lid to close on the bottom compartment. Also, the top lid isn’t secure, so if you don’t use a rubber band, or if you’re rubber band breaks (learned the hard way), you’re going to have your 240 pieces all over the inside of your backpack. And then that’s when you should probably count them to make sure they’re all there.

I was allowed to use an organic modeling kit for exams and finals in my organic chemistry class; these were perfect for tests and homework in every way.I bought these after having extreme frustration with the school store's kit, and found this kit to be intuitive, accurate, and easy to use. There are enough pieces to cover most basic organic molecules, to the point where it can be a struggle to close the box all the way (that's a good thing if you're going into medical; you need all the carbons you can get).I strongly recommend this to anyone who needs a molecular modeling kit.

My experience with molecular models ended several decades ago when I retired from teaching high school chemistry. Unlike the painted wooden balls held together with wood dowel rods, these are much easier to handle and assemble. I purchased the set to supplement my granddaughter's exposure to elementary school science. Now with online classes, I've been her only science teacher for the past 10 months. The model set has been a valuable tool.

While the kit overall was fine and easy to use, I noticed that the molecules once made were too small to put in, say, chair conformations where you can easily see the structure of the molecules. I returned this and went with a model kit that had pieces where the bonds were larger and you could move the molecules around more easily.

This is the best price I could find on a set this size. The box is indeed a tad small though I am able to get everything to fit by jostling the parts around a bit. Otherwise, the components appear good quality, and are also compatible with many of the other sets available, which was important to me because I bought this to extend another set. Apparently some of these sets were shipped without the color code key glued to the top of the box (as shown in the photo). However, I contacted the seller and they emailed back a JPG by the end of the day which I was able to print out and glue on myself. Overall a good deal.
