It’s a lot more protection than a neoprene sleeve, but I wouldn’t say “hard case”.

I wouldn't get it for that. I purchased and sent it back for similar size Dell. Not only did it not fit, but it was not very protected because this case is not as sturdy as it looks. It's light foam in a soft-covering.
