its not like the other timex watches, its quiet and dont hear any ticking. My friends own some weekenders and if its somewhat quiet, i can hear the ticking.

Are you referring to the large sweep hand or the second hand in the small dial at 6 o'clock. If it is the large sweep hand that indicates 12 o'clock it is actually the seconds indicator for the chronograph function. The second hand that is a function to indicate the passing of time as with other watches is actually the hand in the small secondary dial at 6 o'clock. If it is the small hand in the secondary dial then either: a) The battery is flat or b) The watch is broken.
